"Someone Else's Sleepless Night"

What does anybody who has this song on the shelved Fire Makes Steel album think?
I absolutely love it...this is the classic almost intagible thing that Peterik seems to represent. The classic Survivor sound and melody is just THERE. It's immediate, it grabs you right away (not always the case on Reach). Not a rocker, but not a ballad....hard to nail down but so catchy and so very good. It moves the shit out of me, very emotional tune. Great K-K-K Kerannnnggggsss out Frankie's axe....subtle melodic keys unbelievable killer kick ass short guitar solo from Sullivan in the middle (not unlike Zevon's Werewolves of London riff or something).
God, I wish they had added to this and had Jamo record a lead vocal and put it on Reach. That's not to say Dave did not deliver an awesome performance on it, either. The 4 chord key riff that plays throughout it sweet, too. The harmony vocal, always a Frankie area of expertise is stellar, sounds on the chorus that Bickler and Frankie are in the same mic singing face to face....What a fucking song.

Dave28, you rock, buddy. 8)

I couldn't get a grasp on Strip For Me. I wanted to REALLY like it, but maybe it was just too heavy. Not like much else they've done at any rate.

You know, "strip for me" sounds like something you'd hear on modern day radio.. lol YOu know I wonder what Dave is doing since I head they stopped the ads? It'd be great to have him back in the band with Jim.

BTW: for all of you who havn't heard the FMS album you can find it on ebay and if you want to know another way send me a message.

This song is a classic, demo or not. Great hooks, Dave sounds great....There are about nine songs on Reach that could have been replaced by this song....in fact FMS has about five or six songs that are heads and teails above the stuff on Reach and Nevertheless isn't one of them...

Besides FMS, I'd have to say Innocence of Love is my fav on the demo.

I think Strip is great. I like it because it is different. Very edgy. Jessica is one my favorite songs. Without question it should have been on FMS. I'm sorry but there was a lot of filler there. Talkin' Bout love and Gimme The Word were worth buying it though.

I think they could have packaged the demo and sold it. I have two crap copies and love both, just imagine nice master clean copies of the FMS demos. How bout with Dave, Jimi and Robin, just to make us all happy.

Im in TOTAL agreement with you on TBL and GTW. Meanwhile, for me REACH done live last year in Kansas with Robin was MUCH better than the Reach record version with JJ.

Bickler was great on just about every song on that demo release (mine got ruined) hopefully i can find another copy! nudge nudge ...anyways thats one of the songs I'd luv to see the band do with Robin (if it works with him) and a few others.

We shall see but I think this song is one of the very best the band ever did and In my top 10-15 for sure.
