It doesn't matter because they all pale in comparison to the Flock of Seagulls' drummer, who is universally regarded as the greatest musician since Bach.

That was a quote from "Johnny Dangerously", incidentally.

I had no idea how much people hated Edward. I'm just being his advocate, which goes against my nature, since I haven't forgiven him for screwing Dave over in '96 and '01.

I'm just a moving target. Saint John should like that, since he believes every American should have the right to AK-47's, for the purposes of hunting dangerous game such as quail, wild turkey, and deer.

Saint John, doesn't like anyone that doesn't agree with him. You ain't special when it comes to that. The only good wild turkey, is poured into a glass. Quail isn't worth the fuss. And you can't beat a good deer steak.

I'm curious why Van Halen is considered innovative or groundbreaking? I don't know too much about VH but I know a couple of their songs and remember some of their videos--Hot For Teacher, Panama, Jump. I really like these songs but do you all think they are in the same league as Journey (and I don't mean that in a snooty way)? I think (and I don't know that much) Neal could imitate Eddie, but could Eddie imitate Neal, you know what I mean? Or Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan or Prince? What do you think? I would love to hear your opinions... :)

Now you are out of line! Everyone knows the most revered and awesome drummer is that guy from the Stray Cats.

PS. I would have liked to have been his drum tech back in the day, just set up the ol snare, put a couple sticks on top...call it a night!

Oh, and to get this back on track, I love Jeff in Journey but he would also be ASTOUNDING in VH! (a sober VH that is)

it kills me the way these hand-bagging (as in women bashing each other with hand bags) sessions get out of control...

The point about VH is that they WERE the most entertaining live act in 1978 and for the following few years. I saw them as a support act to Black Sabbath at Leicester DeMontfort Hall in '78 when no one knew who they were here. It was like aliens had visited, everyone was utterly speechless. At that time there was only one DLR and certainly only one EVH. No fucker could play like him then and it took another few years for the rest to play catch up.

Fast forward a few years and yes, they have nothing new to offer apart from coke and booze fuelled egos. Sammy was an interesting departure but VH Mk1 was awesome and should be remembered that way. They are just washed up old twats now who should really know better.

Not worth getting worked up about really?

good line... hand bagging...never heard that one..

how about another twist.... if Planet US happened and Not Soul Sirkus... and 2006 unfolded as it actually happened... Would Neal have been able to have Sammy be persuaded to front Journey as Neal **THANKFULLY** found JSS??? And would a Sammy led Journey be just as cool or would it be too weird.....I could not see Sammy singing these classics---but I guess you never can tell.

Actually, on the 1st break of the DL tour last year, I had a session for a Japanese beer commercial having to recreate all the lead & backing vox for Kyrie Elieson, quite fun singing it as I loved this album back in the day!! :)

Look, if you don't like the way he sounds, fine, let him know it. Beat his head in. I am all for hearing dissenting opinion. However, you are beating Soto up becuse he is carrying on with a band that your "classic saviour" no longer wants any part of. Jesus Christ, this gets fucking old.

I bashed the shit out of Steve Augeri because he deserved it. I didn't bash him because compared to Steve fucking Perry he sucked? No, I bashed him but good, because he committed a rocknroll crime. I was sickened by it and took out the trash. Soto isn't doing anything scandulous like Lipping? He is doing a job that was offered to him. This has NOTHIMG to do with Soto "sounding good in Journey." This has everything to do with you are pissed because "clasic Journey has left the station on a one way trip." Get over it, for fucks sake. I bet you are a dude who weeps for weeks, over his girlfriend leaving him. Dude, do you know, it has been 11 years since the portugese god has hung up the mic? Get over it.

Damn dude, you put up a post like that and no one has your head yet. Keep up the good work.

Tomulator wrote:...is that he is doing the CORRECT thing by embracing the legacy of Steve Perry and giving him his props whenever and wherever appropriate.

A personal note to JSS (if you ever happen to read this)...I really appreciate your humble attitude and attention to your fans. But, I have to be honest...I am too hooked on the "classic" Journey lineup with SP to really follow the band like I used to. Something doesn't yet work for me about the latest lineup...

I do think you are a hard-working, talented, and gracious professional and I wish you success.

BTW, your voice would be PERFECT for Van Halen. Something about the tonality of your voice would fit those songs...perhaps better than Journey. Were you ever approached by them?

No offense intended in any of the above comments.

Rock On!

I loved that song. killer bass melody.

"you're half of the flesh and blood that makes me whoooooole"

sounds like a dramatically romantic line that Jeff might write.

Actually Drew, don't you think a song like this could be a great way to truly introduce
Jeff to America???

Release it as a single. Make a big, grandiose video that VH1 would be interested in
and promote the shit out of it, while constantly touting
"New Lead singer for the legendary band, Journey! Look for
Journey's new full length release in spring 2008!"

I think a song like this could be a billboard hit!
And ANY exposure Jeff and the band can get right now would be great!
