Seems like there's a lot of happy music out there after all, but the majority of it goes way back. This probably accounts for the old hits making a comeback, people are perhaps a little fed up with what's about today. Anyway I'm about to get in the van and on my way to work, first track Good Vibrations (Good one TVL) followed by the Fun Fun Fun till your.....Moon, I'll search the internet for the Triumph track during coffee break as I'm sure as hell need a few black ones this morning

If you get a chance to see the Elton show in NY, take a look at the couple I mean at the end, fuckin' sad songs makin' people happy, shouldn't be allowed

Never heard Sad Songs in concert I don't think.
The original version is very upbeat and I probably
wouldn't care for it slowed down.

This is kind of unrelated, but this whole thread made me think of something. I was *obsessed* with Depeche Mode back in the day (I know, I know... it's WAY off the genre!) but every single song they sang made you want to slit your wrists more than the one before it. It was really melancholy stuff. Which is why I liked it. HA

Then they came out with "But Not Tonight" -- and wow! The melody is sad (I suppose) but they lyrics are SO happy!!

"Alive" by Van Zant. It was actually written by Jim Peterik of Survivor. Also of the "Songwriting for Dummies" fame. His plane was smoking and had to make an emergency landing and he was REALLY happy to be alive when all was said and done.
