I hope so too! 8) The weather has been fantastic so far... we should be at 14C and it's 25 or over! It's hotter now than it was last August even...

Any news from the store with the jeans yet? It may take a week until they get restocked probably.

I've been trying to find some nice shoes, but bought a couple of blouses instead... So now I intend to go looking for blouses and hopefully I'll come back with shoes!

I had a great trip planned next week with my bro, but it doesn't look like it was gonna happen. Our friend in NH invited us to the NY KISS Expo in New Jersey, but it may be cancelled if he doesn't get a hotel room within 3 miles of the show. The excuse: He doesn't want to drive once we get there, because he wants to drink.

IMO, the excuse doesn't wash out. What I don't understand, is why he can't drink the night before the show, and after the show? He'll have both mornings to recover.

And I've found hotels with rooms close to the show. No, it's not within 3 miles, more like 4 or 5, which is still walkable. For me, that's a cakewalk. I do that much exercise just bringing carts in all day at work.

I bet money that his soon-to-be misses had something to do with this. I can smell it.

So why don't my bro and I go alone? Traffic. He wants nothing to do with it. I don't blame him. Even traffic close to home stresses me out.

So we've got a backup trip in plan. It's not the KISS Expo, but it'll be close enough. Hitting every cd store in southern Maine. Bad news is not doing something out of the ordinary. Good news, is that the extra money set aside for expenses becomes spendable.

...It's a tough call. I'd rather do something I haven't done before. Some of my high school classmates moved to New Jersey and it would've been cool to meet them again. :(

Aren't there any taxi's in NJ? A 5 mile walk may not seem that far, but when you've been on your feet all day it's quite a walk to undertake. On our yearly trip to the festival in Germany, our hotel is about 5 miles from the festival grounds, but you couldn't get me to walk all the way back to the hotel after such a long day. Instead we walk a mile or so to a bar, call a taxi over there, and wait for it whilst enjoying a couple of drinks. (definitely more enjoyable  )

You have to face it though, as long as you're dependent on others to go to places you want to go to, there's always the possibility you won't go at all... It's not something you can hold against others.
I can understand the thing about the traffic; the traffic in Amsterdam freaked me out, and that partially kept me from getting my driver's license (that we have very good public transport, and most places within the city are easy to go to on the bike played a part too). Still, at one point I decided to get over it, and signed up for driving lessons. And now I can't imagine being without a driver's license. It may take some time to reach that point though; I know it did for me. ;)

It looks like the trip is gonna happen after all. We couldn't get the hotel room, but he still wants to go. Instead, we'll spend the night at his place, leave very early to get to the show, and then get back to his place at midnight or so. There will be no rest for the wicked this weekend. 8)

As always, I'll be promoting Within Temptation whereever I walk. I think they're serious about pushing their music in the states! They're selling 'The Howling' EP at Hot Topic for a couple bucks! Anything that is sold at Hot Topic seems to sell better than usual.

I hear that! It must be a couple of hours driving to get there... and back! Sounds like a fun trip though, so, have fun!

It'll be 4 hours to get to our friend's place. Then it will be 5 hours to Jersey, if assuming we don't get caught in the morning rush hour.

I'll definitely be a pilgrim in a strange land. Everyone will be clad in long hair and leather. Not me though. Within Temptation needs as much free publicity as I can provide by wearing their t-shirt.

Regardless of how we get there, it'll be a blast.

Going to the NY KISS EXPO! The biggest cd show in the northeast. You'd enjoy it. Everyone will be clad in leather promoting music!

As of now, I'm out! Have a great weekend! I know I will. 8)

They, Vanishing Point, are great bunch of guys. The biggest kudos is the guitarist named Chris.

I'm back from the Expo. If you are into KISS and KISS memorabilia, that was the place to go. Dare I say I wasn't looking for KISS, but for other stuff?

I got to meet Ted Poley for the second time. He and 3/4's of the Danger Danger lineup was there promoting their stuff. In another corner (and to a surprise) was a booth for Spread Eagle! I didn't think they had reunited, but they had copies of their first album for sale. That was one you couldn't find anywhere.

There were only two cd vendors. One was selling promos of Euro Metal stuff for dirt cheap. The other specialized specifically in Euro Metal, and I ended up with a copy of Within Temptation "Angels" single.

Eric Singer of KISS was there signing stuff, and also was part of Metal Sludge's first ever LIVE interview. I think it will be online in the future, I'm not sure when. You'll be able to hear me shout "PHIL COLLINS" during a question where Eric rates drummers on a 1 to 10 scale.

There were also several bands playing, but we had to leave early to get back home (no hotel rooms.) But we saw the first two. The first was ZO2, a local New York 3-piece band who specialize in originals in the classic rock style. They did a killer cover of Rush's 'Tom Sawyer,' and had lines and lines of people buying their albums. They must've sold a good 500 cds that night, which is more than all the indie artists I've watched combined, with exception of Eden's Lie.

Bombay Black Perfomed next, and they smoked! I've heard thousands of hair bands, but these guys are good. Heavy, crunching, excellent sound, harmonies, and stage prescence.

And then we bolted out and didn't get back to our friend's place until about 2 in the morning. It's been a long weekend. I ended up missing the Naked Beggars show (A female-fronted southern rock/punk band, similar to Princess Pang. Pretty average) as well as Jaded (below-average female glam band, but they've got one of the best live shows I've ever seen.) Also there was a KISS tribute band as expected, but we missed them as well.

So I'm back now, ready to go to bed to make up for lost sleep. I'll be spending tomorrow sifting through my stash of cds. The promos and the stuff my friend gave me should be enough to catch up on some female reviews. Keep rockin'!

And Kiss have quite a couple memorabilia... The place looked must have looked like a huge exhibition!

Sounds like you had a good weekend. Such an expo would be a good place for a band to perform and be heard. I have never seen bands at the record fairs in Amsterdam though... instead they always invite science fiction actors; for some odd reason the record fair is combined with a sci-fi fair.

Vanishing Point were excellent and they did promise to come back to WA at the end of the year. Dragonforce were a bunch of tossers and I only stayed for 2 of their songs.

I don't like Dragonforce that much. They're all speed but little substance. One of my friends at work is really into the Euro Metal scene, more so than I am. and he says that occassionally, Dragonforce will dress up as ninjas and call themselves Shadow Warriors, where they play small clubs and parody their own material...I'm not sure what to think of a band that makes fun of themselves.

Me too. I didn't know their music when I saw them, but still I enjoyed their concert. One of the more entertaining bands that day actually. They didn't seem to take themselves too seriously that day either.

New carpet rules but moving stuff to accomodate it being laid really sucked. But the mrs is happy...and when she's happy then she is more likely to accomodate me in getting laid.

Oh the shallowness....

I take the view that if missus doesn't 'accommodate' me, she's the one missing out. :P
