USA Today had this:
Hilton has no prior DUI arrests. If convicted, she could be sentenced to six months in jail and fined $1,000. The minimum penalty for a first-time offender is a fine, probation and alcohol-rehabilitation program.
I can't believe you are defending her.
She got probation, which she plea bargained down to...then violated it twice.
Defend that.
Personally, I think .08 is bullshit. It used to be .10 in Illinois and they lowered it to .08. That's just ridiculously low and has been shown to cause no more impairment than smoking does. Should smokers be arrested and sent through this bullshit process too? I WOULDN'T be defending her if she had blown like a .12 or something like that. If I were the cop she would have been blowing but certainly wouldn't have been arrested.Again, I'm elated her sentenced has been reduced. Will be celebrating in her honor tonight.

Sorry SJ, but there is plenty of evidence to show that a .08 can be impaired as well as a .10. We are not talking intoxication with a .08, we are talking IMPAIRMENT. People get very confused between drunk and impaired. You can be very impaired to drive way before you ever feel or act drunk. Many cops around the country actually do little tests of their own in police academies and for education where some of them will drink and the others will watch their impairment as each drink goes by. They give them the road side sobriety tests and check their alcohol level along the way. That, along with other studies he has read, makes my husband a believer in the .08. Plus in today's world with all of our education and all we know, why is it so hard to desigate a driver when you go out drinking, or get a cab. It's just irresponsible and selfish. If you have enough money for the drinks, you can afford the cab. And in Paris's case, she couldn't get a driver for the night??? Please.

I've driven over the .08 limit literally hundreds of times. When I was just out of college I played softball 5 nights a week and went to the bar afterward. I usually had between 8-12 beers and drove about 15 miles home. Zero arrests, zero accidents and zero incidents. Unfortunately, I was nabbed October 18th 2006 by an overzealous prick cop who said I went "beyond the pedestrian white line" while waiting at a red light. This scumbag pulled me over because my car was 3 feet over the thick white line that precedes the pedestrian white lined walkway. I came to find out in court that between 11pm and 5am he literally pulls over EVERY vehicle on Vollmer Road in Flossmoor Illinois. Since 2000, he has given out over 900 DUI's. His ends justify his means even though he is illegally pulling over virtually everyone he nails. I wish that motherfucker nothing but the worst. For the record, I blew .189.

This was perhaps the only way to make me sympathetic towards Paris.

How is a cop overzealous for doin his JOB! Obviously you got lucky to not get caught your other hundreds of times. They randomly pull over cars that go over lines hoping to catch a drunk driver. It's what cops do for a living. Whether you want to believe it or not you were impaired at .189. And pulling someone over that way is not illegal. My husband about 150 dui arrests in one summer, so I guess he's a motherfucker too. I like to think instead he may have saved a life.

I was at a complete stop at a red light. HE said my car was 3 feet past the white line, though the 3 passengers in my car and I thought otherwise. DUI's are nothing more than a revenue source. The only thing I learned is that they're expensive, nothing more. As for your husband, I'm sure he means well, and no, I don't think he a motherfucker, but my best guess is that his DUI arrests have merely put a financial burden on people rather than teach them a lesson.
