LATE BREAKING NEWS!!

Mike called me about an hour ago to tell me that they were at the funeral home making arrangements this afternoon & Chelsea was still apparently on life support to maintain the organs for donation. He told me that they got a phone call, and that a neurosurgeon's second opinion is required to declare someone brain dead, and that the second opinion came back that there was still a small amount of blood flow going to the brain.

Apparently last night the decision was made that she was brain dead, and to preserve her organs on life support until the donors were found. This is apparently why we are just getting word of these changes this afternoon.

I know this brings more questions than answers, but the amazing thing is that she is still clining to a ray of hope whatever the consequences may be. Please redouble the prayer efforts, cause it looks like they may have worked. Mike wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers, and I will post updates as things develop.

God bless you all.

Miracles do happen. Chelsea is clearly a generous girl and a fighter. I will pray for her continued strength.
Until we meet again, may God

I know how sappy this is going to sound to some, but I've literally got tears running down my face as I type this. I'm both relieved that there is still hope for this family to cling to, and appalled that the child may have been prematurely pronounced brain dead.

I just hope it doesn't make the whole situation harder for the family if they have to lose their hope again.

It does open up a whole new aspect of emotions. I know from talking to Mike that they are realistic about the likelihood of some substantial brain damage, but overjoyed at the miracle that there is still some hope.

This must be nerve racking as hell. Losing a child must be one of the worst things that could happen to anyone. Here's hoping and praying that some miracle occurs and all is well :( My prayers and thoughts are with the family and Jeremey who I don't know but read his posts all the time.

Maybe our prayers were heard. Or the tears of loved ones caught someone's attention.

I have a cousin who has a little girl that had severe seizures, causing brain damage. The doctors have said that she will be a vegetable at the very least. However, it seems every now and again there is a slight improvement. I can certainly sympathize with what you guys are going through right now.

I pray that God's healing hand will heal Chelsea from these injuries. What I turn around of emotions. I just now thought about my nieces and how I would be heart broken to hear of something like this happening to them. No one can underestimate the power of prayer!

I second this. I am all weepy right now with the prospect of a miracle or them losing their hope again. Prayers to all the families.

This is very hard to hear and it is hard for me to comment on right now because I very recently spent a week in the hospital at the bedside of one of my closest friends, unfortunitely she lost the battle. I hope and pray that this girl will survive but if she does not I wish her Godspeed on her journey home. As I told my friends children..take this opportunity to say everything you've meant to say. I hope that this girls family will tell her all she means to them. She will hear and it will give her peace in knowing. God bless the family and give them the strength, support, and love they need at this time.

Hey all, Mike thanks you for the continued prayers and thoughts. No real new news to report, Chelsea continues to be in the medically induced coma, and her brain swelling appears to be under control. I last talked to Mike yesterday and they were back to playing the waiting game.

Here's the kicker - The report that came back saying Chelsea was brain dead was WRONG, thanks to a resident who didn't know what the fuck he was talking about!! Mike and Allison were at the funeral home Wednesday morning making arrangements when the neurosurgeon called and said the report was wrong, and there was actually blood flow to the brain. Can anyone say lawsuit?!? Unbelieveable.
