After years of the same tired routine with every tour
getting more and more stale, Jeff FINALLY gave us
long time fans something to truly be excited about again.
In his short time with the band, Jeff became as important
to some of us as a memeber of this band as Perry...
Like Perry, he was the ONE PERSON that could make this band viable again...
Last Summer's tour was the best these guys had looked/sounded
in 20 years! And with the chance of hearing an album
written collectively by Jeff, Schon and Cain...
We were ALL eager to see this band shine again...
Now we have this sudden shift that is going to set this band
10 steps backwards and solidify them as nothing more than
an over-the-hill nostalgia act milking every dime they
can off of their glory years because they are too fucking lazy and greedy
to do anything else...
This is what I was looking for. A comment that admits that "JSS is the golden boy of this forum". Cuz honestly I think this is out of control on this board. JSS hasn't been in the band very long. I understand JSS probably did not get the best treatment. But 'Journey' is a franchise. Journey goes YEARS beyond JSS..in fact Journey goes years beyond Steve Perry. I would like to comment more on this but I don't even get the opinion I am talking to Journey fans who represent the masses. I think there are too many here who are JSS fans. We did not see much fuss over SA leaving but JSS who had only been in the bad a few months...this is crazy.
Read what I said again...
I am speaking as a TRUE Journey fan...
but there are many differnet types of fans.
I happen to be of the category that likes to
see growth and hear something fresh and new.
As much as I love the classics that drew to this band when
I was 10 years old, I crave new and better things from this band.
Especially when it looks like they were ALL getting really fired up
about this new line-up and what they could do with it.
Some of us accepted Jeff unconditionally because of
his reume, his inter-play in here and because we felt
that Mr Augeri's time in the band had run its course.
We knew Perry wasn't an option and weren't ready for these
guys to go away yet.
So now Jeff gets fired, flat out, and all those hopes have been crushed.
Not only does the unexpected suddenness of this leave a bad tatste in my mouth
but the way it has gone down, with all the lies and deceptions has left
a lot of us feeling cheated, yet again, and burned.
And for what? So the band can sit back and keep milking the classics
with someone that is as close to Perry as possible; nothing new and fresh.
Why keep hope alive or want to support a band that doesn't seem to care
that much for its die-hard fans?
How many times should I have to keep shelling out $$$ to hear the
same old material over and over and over again???
Guess what? I have the GH DVD, I have the F&B VHS, I have the Houston DVD...
I have all the albums, most of them still on vinyl; I can re-live the past anytime I want to.
It's not that Jeff is the "Golden Boy" in here.
Yes, he does have a HUGE following here but it goes beyond just that.
It boils down to long-time fans finally getting fed up with all the
lies and deception and greed of this band and finally deciding to say,
"Enough is enough, guys. You've gone too far this time."
BTW, the only way this band would ever et my support again,
whether it be by $$$ or word-of-mouth, is if Perry came back for
a one-off album and tour.
And THAT would only be to hear Perry sing again and
to be able to let my 7 yo daughter, Bella, see Perry LIVE.
But we all know that will never happen anyway...
