I didn't follow Yes in the 80s. I actually only like 1 or 2 of their songs. Who, other than them & Friga wore smocks? I didn't know Yes did & have never seen anyone other than Friga in one.

Well, if you don't like Yes then it's obvious I'm debating with a lightweight here...

Oh yea - lots o' fashion faux pas in the 80s. I generally rationalize them (especially ones I might be on film in) as "It was the style!" We did the best we could with what we were given. LOL!

I believe Jeff's story about Perry taking a postive interest in his career. I don't believe that Perry has said JSS is equally as talented. Big difference.

I love ALL of Perry's solo stuff

And there's no syrup on his solo records? It could be argued that "Faithfully" is actually tougher and heavier than anything on Street Talk. Or is it the sentiment and not the production you object to?

Prism is my favorite album solo.

Jeff is now my 2nd favorite singer of all time. He has moved up above some other people. That is the ONLY thing I have changed my mind about over the last year & that's b/c I collected more of his music. NOT b/c I was blown in the wind or flakey.

I'm sorry but that it a statement of staggering absurdity and ignorance. Second of all-time? Do you have one of those record collections typical of most women and indeed of most AOR fans? You know..the collection of about 5 CDs....tucked away out of view behind a potted plant or something...

Then there are songs written JUST to be hits & appeal to the musical lightweights.

Journey went out of their way to court the "musical lightweights". They weren't interested in a specialist or underground cognoscenti, were they? Almost every song they ever wrote was designed to tickle the mainstream. But unlike most bands they were able to combine genuine soul with a ruthless commercial canniness. I'd say that "Faithfully" is the perfect examople of that.

Isn't it entirely possible that Cain actually was missing his wife when he wrote that song? I reckon some of that authenticity struck a chord with the public and they responded to it. I don't hear anything that suggests it was written in a cold, purely pragmatic way.

II have over 500 vinyl albums (perfectly preserved), about 300 cassette tapes, over 400 CDs -- those are all the commercially released albums, all in full view for anyone who walks into my living room to see. I also have a staggering collection of music on iTunes (I haven't counted the albums) & other music on my computer. My iPod has over 4000 songs on it right now. If I'm ignorant about music, I'd like to know what u would call the average American woman.

Well, in that case I can only believe that your critical faculties have been clouded by this schoolgirlish crush of yours.
