Journey/Survivor wrote:I don't get the point of these topics. If you don't like what the band is doing then just don't buy their albums or go to their shows! If they want to contiue on that's their right and their business. If you don't want them to get any of your money then don't spend it on them. Plain and simple.
There are still tons of us, yes tons of us, who want the band to continue on!
Did Journey ask Deano to cause all this trouble with the whole tape-gate shit? Not to my knowledge.
I'll admit that it was classless the way in which they dumped JSS, they should have had the guts and decency to tell him face to face. But it was their right to replace him if they felt it was in the bands best interest. And it would appear that they must have felt that way or else they wouldn't have done it.
The outrage over the JSS thing pretty much only exists on here and maybe a JSS website.
They haven't really damaged the bands name in the way that so many people on this site like to make it out to be!
All of the retire demands or requests are pretty pointless!
I'm not trying to piss any of you off, honestly! But what I've said here is the truth.

Neal probably can't spell it at all... that is one of the problems.
Hell of a musician but...

Do me a favour, over the weekend ask 30 or so 40-50yr olds what they think of Journey...and their reply will be Damn Good group, hardly any fucker out there knows what's going on..period.
ScarabGator wrote:This is just a crazy statement! You didnt hear Foreigner, Styx or Van Halen fans saying this when their singers left. Why should Journey retire? If they still wanna play the music then why not? Its part theirs so go for it. The crowds WILL still come out to see them, granted you may not be there, but for every 1 naysayer there are at least 1000 ready to buy a ticket.

Actually, you'd probably get a lot of, "Yeah, they were a good group. Whatever happened to them?"
Well, I'm a loon and yes, that would be the typical answer and true by the way. However, having said that, I don't necessarily say they should have retired the name on that score. There have been other rock and roll bands that have lost singers that has been a focal point for them. They have gone on. Van Halen is a perfect example with David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar. But they didn't try to be an impersonation of their former self.SF-Dano wrote:ScarabGator wrote:This is just a crazy statement! The typical loon answer would be. "Steve Perry meant more to Journey than any of the singers in the other bands you mentioned. He brought Journey all their success. Steve Perry is Journey. No one would have ever known the band Journey if Steve Perry wasn't brought in as the singer. That is why they should retire the name."
Are there some valid points there? Arguably yes. But IMO, I agree with you. It is a band of 5 individuals, and the founding/senior members can run it how the deem to.

JSS on the other hand..How do you people know what really went down? Do you know what happened with Sammy and Van Halen...NO! How do we know that JSS's manager didn't get in the picture or he demanded something outrageous..Oh that's right, its all Neal and Jon's fault..If you want to bring back Perry, hell ,why not bring back ansley dunbar and gregg rollie? then you WOULD have Journey back! Ive been a Journey fan since I was 8..and I'm almost 40..Journey is what even got me to listen to rock music in the 1st place..I have every album..all of them, not just SP's..I loved what SA brought to the table,Arrival is one of my fave's..I love the energy and it was ,what ROR should have been! SP doesn't want to sing like that anymore, its all ballads..If you don't believe me,listen to TBF..don't get me wrong I liked TBF,but way too soft..I mean the hardest songs are tame the lion and one more..c'mon! Give the new guy his shot..you never know..Have an open mind don't be hater's..If they just tour with him and no new music, yes I would be really disappointed..At least mix in some new stuff..

Where were the hard songs on Arrival? Did I miss them? All I remember is hearing about seven ballads and a couple of mid-tempo shufflers and that's about it.....? I Can See It In Your Eyes from TBF is heavier than any of those wet lettuce songs....
