I know you are absolutely not going to bite (aww..) but seeing this written in a serious discussion cracks me up. I know where Monty Python got their references from for The Life of Brian.

Well you go right ahead and worship Monty Python then. None of my business.

Actually, I never thought about it before, but I suppose I do. Cleese and Co. are Gods I guess. Thanks for that

Weren't they just. Its cool that their (very British) humour crossed over to the US so well. Still blindingly funny on the reruns.
They just did a Top 10 sketches programme - The Spanish Inquisition came No.2
I don't think anyone expected that. 'No-one expects the....' sorry.
Is your wife a..."goer"... eh? Know what I mean? Know what I mean? Nudge nudge. Nudge nudge! Know what I mean? Say no more...Know what I mean?

When are they going to start putting gaps in these forests and running massive irrigation systems into these forests so when there is a fire they have a chance? The cost would far outweigh the damage and lives being lost with the present archaic system. Might as well just try pissing on it.
One of the major problems are these idiot environmentalists who have made it nearly impossible to clear out the undergrowth in these forests, which is what fuels a lot of these fires and makes it more difficult to contain when they do start because this stuff catches fire much more easily than the actual trees and plants.

Same thing was happening here - fire trails and back burning fuel reduction was being over turned by enviromental groups....that was until 500 houses were lost in 2 hours in Canberra a few years back.
Now we are starting to get back on top of these things, as Aussie is the absolutely home of bushfires. For example....summer is still officially one week away and already in Tasmania there are 17 fires burning around the state. It will be another long summer coming up.
It certainly doesn't help having the native tree of the country filled with flamible oil!

And one thing, make that two, 1) fires aren't the least bit "funny" and 2), Australia is second to Southern California in fire country.

If Australia is like the U.S. then the environmental groups are planted on the left, which you have so gleely voted back in.

Dude, socialism sucks and fails over and over. Go check out Cuba and it's crumbling infrastructure. It's doomed to failure just like the rest. I know you'll chime in with "but Canada..." They have the luxury of the US protecting their backsides militarily. They're headed down the same path, hopefully they pull out of it.
Rockindeano wrote:I wasn't going to pull the Canada card but since you brought it up.....
I meant "left" in the sense of the American political system. Left as in Hillary..right as in Hannity. Hillary is better than Hannity..that was my point..
On to Canada. Make fun of that place all you want. BUT...
