They knew Jeff had nothing to offer to the Journey name as time passed , and once it all surfaced and set in they were probably like, "oh shit, now what?" (I said Jeff didn't have anything offer to the Journey name..don't get it mixed up and take it as Jeff didn't have the talent. He did. Sometimes that's that way the wind blows in life.) It's a gut feeling business.
He had die hard Perry fans pulling for him, that's more than I can say
for Mr Schon and his itchy trigger finger decisions.
I always felt the reason die-hard Perry fans liked Soto so much was because he didn't try to copy Perry. He took the songs they loved and gave them his own touch. The die-hard Perry fans knew Perry wasn't coming back but they didn't want a copycat up there.
I don't know about that.. So is Kelly Hansen a copycat of Lou Gramm? His fans seem to be ok with it..And they haven't even done a new record yet.. Go figure..
I don't know. I was just hypothesizing based on what I saw from this board when JSS was on board. The most ardent Perry supporters were excited about Journey again, and I always thought it was because they liked that JSS wasn't up there to sing it like Perry. One of JSS' influences is Perry himself, so that's always going to be in the back of his mind, but he didn't sing the songs like the records. And I think that's what pro-Perry people liked. I'm just saying what I always thought the case was.
You are right on the money fightingilliniJRNY! Well, at least about this fan anyway.

They finally had the whole package as a frontman again, as unique in his own way as Perry.
I guess it is all as it should be, Neal can be happy now. Perry was the draw in the Perry era Journey, Schon was the draw in the Augeri era Journey, JSS was beginning to be the draw in the JSS era Journey, now Schon will once again be the main draw in the Arnel era Journey.
