It was great to see you & the wife on Saturday! We had a fantastic time. It had been quite a while since we were all up on stage, so I'm sure there was a few rust in spots (getting back to smoking probably hasn't helped me either), but we had one of the best times we've had in a long time on Saturday. Andrews is just a great place, and the staff & venue there are top notch. It's the only "bar" venue we have carried over from years past with our new limited schedule for 2008 because of the great people there (even if it is a 7 hour drive - after picking up Sabrina & Quinn in NC yesterday, we finally got back around 1130 last night!)...We'll be back there in March again, with the rest of those new songs polished up. And make plans for NYE 2008, as are booked at Andrews for that as well.
Thanks again for making it down to the show!
ScarabGator wrote:Sounds great, we are already looking forward to it!!! Your right about Andrews, it is an awesome place and all the staff that we've met in the past really are good people. All very friendly and cool to talk to. Its about a 3 hr drive for us, we are near the Florida line where we come up from but we didnt get home till @6:30pm yesterday. We checked out of the room(after I downed a bottle of tylenols) and had lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe in Downtown. It was just a great weekend. By the way-I know you saw the ladies with the painted on tops at the show? I think Barry looked intrigued.....Thanks again for the great time!!!

Step AWAY from the tobacco, my man. Just because guys like Halford and Tate have smoked like a chimney, doesn't mean you can do it. I don't want you to end up sounding like Roger Waters with a cold.
Jeremey wrote:You are correct. What most people don't realize is that I've smoked pretty much since I was 17 years old. Been able to kick it for several months on end, the most recent was about the past year and a half, but it crept back in with the stresses of the past several months. Tried taking Welbutrin to kick it again back around Thanksgiving, but it generally made me feel like shit so I'm giving Chantix a try this week.
What smoking does for me in general affects my breath support. It's not so much a tone or range issue as it is losing steam near the end of a 3 hour set. When I am not smoking, I sound the same at the end of the night as I do at the start. When smoking like I have been, it becomes a struggle near the end to maintain the breath support some of the material requires.
I will be through with them again by the holidays though, for sure!

Jeremey,
Hang in there you can quit the cigs! I smoked from age 19 to age 38 and I am a runner as well as doing some extremely physical underwater escape work (ala houdini) The only thing that made me quit was thinking about my three daughters and my wife and how unfair it would be for me to continue killing myself just to stick a cancer stick in my piehole! I have not smoked for 4 years now. Do it for your newborn and your beautiful wife... they need you around, that will be enough to get you through it.

Next time try Ibuprofen. Tylenol (acetaminophen) is very toxic on the liver when taking it before or after drinking alcohol.
