While there may have been an official announcement that he was a member of the band, I really have a hard time including him in the grand scheme of public appearance. So that would actually mean that Arnel, provided they DO release new material with him (they could fire him before that happens...it's happened before!) would only be the 2nd lead singer change after "establishment". Still a tough position, but near as daunting as being "fourth".
The fact of the matter is that JSS WAS announced as the new singer. He WAS fired from the position. Whether or not you determine that he was a singer or not, is in your own reality...
The very first question that any non-journey fan is going to ask you after you say 'go check out Journey with their new singer, arnel!!" is:
"new singer!?!?! How many singers have they had!"
Are you going to lie and not include Chalfant, Jeremey and JSS in that equation. I'll give you Jeremey and *maybe* Chalfant....but to not include JSS would be shaping the fact pattern to support your assertion....i.e. lying!
Like it or not, 90% of non journey fans (i.e. people that don't give a shit about the band and would likely not show up at a show) will question the legitimacy of the band based on the revolving door of the lead singer position...that's a fact.
and....that fact is being perpetuated in the music press AS WE SPEAK. Find me one article in the music press that addresses the new singer, Arnel...without mentioning just how rediculous this lead singer swapping looks!?
