Eye Of The Tiger 2005-2006 Version

Postby Slander » Tue Dec 18, 2007 6:30 am

Hey Guys,

I remember listening to a new version of EOTT with JJ on vocals (no not the one on i-tunes and the movies) back in 2005. It was a new updated sounding version. I actually didn't like it that well. Does anyone know if you can hear that on the web somewhere?

Red it had nothing to do with JJ at all. I'm talking about the different take on the song. Do you remember them recording a version for the new album? It seems like I do or am I losing my mind?

I do remember talk of them redoing it for REACH, then hearing snippets of what sounded like a new studio version, but it's been elusive to me as well.
It must exist, though as Jamo says it;s been used for stuff.

Eye of Tiger with JJ

Postby Diffworlds » Tue Dec 18, 2007 11:06 am

There is a CD called "Music from the Xbox Video game NHL Rivals 2004". It has Survivor (with JJ on lead vocals) singing Eye of the Tiger. I am not sure it is the same version that you are looking for. It also has an updated Sammy Hagar singing "I can't Drive 65 " as well as some classic tunes from Boston, Styx, Joe Walsh & Journey.

Thanks Diff. I think this is a different verison. The one I am talking about was recorded for the new album I believe. I remember there were snippets on line.

I think it is. Check it out here: http://www.amazon.com/Rivals-2004-Video ... B0000UHFIK

I played both (amazon one) and the studio version, concurrently and they match. 8)

I have a recording of Survivor doing EOTT with Jimi on lead vocals, that I think might have been recorded around the time that Jimi rejoined the band in that 1999-2000-2001 time frame? It is a studio version, not live. I wasn't even aware of there being more than one version of EOTT with Jimi on lead vocals.

After the new Jimi interview I've been meaning to ask you guys, what movies has EOTT with Jimi singing been in?

It's probably "Eye of the Tiger - A Tribute To Larry Finch". You can find it on amazon. It's a solo version from Jimi. Totally different than the original and of course than the Survivor Version with JJ. Different, but interessting. I like it because it his his own rendition.

Hmmh. The NHL Rivals 2004 was released in 2003. The iTunes Version is called 2006 remix and they said the want to re-record EOTT for "Reach". That means they have done two identicall recordings? Now I'm confused.

Guys this was a version I believe was recorded for the new album. This isn't the Jamo version that appears in the movies or video games. There were snippets online. The version was even different musically. Am I losing my mind here? I think samples appeared online about 2004 or 2005.

Don't worry about losing you're mind. I'm absolutely confused too. Never heard the Online samples and I have no idea how the movie version sounds but if the X-Box Game/Movie Version sounds different than the iTunes Store Version there´s something new I have to look for.

But I know for sure that the JJ Solo Version is different than Survivor's. Doesn't Amazon offers a online snippet for the Larry Finch Tribute?

Slander, I have a version that I got that was labled the 2001 EOTT and it sound identical to the 2006 I-Tunes Version...

I do have another version though...it's labeled Survivor and it's JJ...it's a lot more rough...I get the feeling from its sound that it was the song that was cut with JJ and sent to Starbucks for approval...I'll try and post it on megaupload for you and send it over....

Eye thank you so much. I appreciate it. I thought the remake was recorded for REACH. I could be wrong.

Shoulda put it on Reach as was rumored, would've ballanced the scales of rocker/ballad a little more.

should have flushed reach down the toilet and put the finishing touches on FMS...the last great real Survivor effort...

Red, do you think they are going to be able to get that album out before Dec. 31st?

"Big Fat Liar," is that the film with Amanda Bynes from several years back? I've never seen the movie, but the cool thing about that is that a few months back I got to meet Amanda Bynes.

I have the Fire Makes Steel demos. I like the songs a lot, but IMO it didn't Rock nearly enough either.
I thought the only true Rockers were "Strip For Me" "Better Give It Up" "Jessica" and the remake of "Rebel Girl."

Does anyone have the Survivor demo of the song that Mecca did? I've never even gotten to hear the Mecca version either, I'm in some serious debt lately, and I can't afford to buy the album.
