That road out sucked. We didn't get out until morning.
Jonathan did some songs in Japan and at least Chicago and Wisconsin (and other dates) on the Escape tour. So I think those were the first non-Journey songs by a Journey artist, I believe. I know one was Turn Around in Tokyo. I think the other was Too Far Gone, both by The Baby's. I have recordings of Journey doing both. I know they played Don't Fight It, at least in Texas, in 1982 and then again in 1983, at least in Japan. It wasn't played often, as far as I know. Then you had No More Lies at nearly every Frontiers show.
At Mountain Aire, I sat right near the VIP group and it was great. I had a great day. I was a huge Outfield fan too. I saw them a week or so later with Starship and I saw Neil Diamond the night before Journey at the Greek. It was a great concert week.
Throughout the day, I remember people starting to say Journey wasn't going to play, etc. It was crazy. But the show was one of the best I've ever seen. It was a longer show than normal.
I remember seeing Dean and telling my friend, "One day that guy is going to stir up some shit!".
