Yep.
Besides, Neal was the first one to haul his solo shit into the Journey act on the Frontiers tour, so if he can do it...

Actually, SP debuted Don't Fight It first- I think.

I'm sure it's a case of mutual props for their individual stuff that they did in 1982, presented to the live public in the Frontiers tour. Doesn't matter who debuted it first, they were all playing it as Journey. Well, except SP gets to go sit down when Neal does his "No More Lies", and Neal still has to play SP's songs, hehe.

Deano, I'm as impatient as anyone for that Mountain Aire concert, video or audio, doesn't matter. It was the 1st concert of the ROR tour, and SP was at the top of his game. I will pay any price for it.

So will I.

The show at Angels Camp was exciting because it was the first show of the tour, but that is the last place I'd want to go to see a concert. It was so hot that the band had trouble doing soundcheck because the equipment that had been sitting on stage all day was so hot.

It was general admission so people got their early and lined up to get upfront. When they opened the gate, it was a stampede. Cyndy and I were assigned to the band's V.I.P. section which was roped off. We were supposed to make sure only friends and family sat there. You can imagine how nuts that was. The crowd were drunk off their ass and the guys had those high-powered squirt machine guns and were drenching all the girls. There is only one crappy road in and out of that place so traffic coming and going was insane. That's why the band came in a helicopter.

The concert itself was awesome and one I'll never forget, but it would take a lot to get me to go back to that venue, for any band.

That was you! I couldn't stop staring. You two looked hot that day, Aug 26th 1986.

Well, the place is a beautiful mountain town. Come on LB, the painted frogs in the streets are a nice touch.

We'll see about that. If I ask, you are going. Actually, bands are playing at Murphy's, another small quaint cottage town just down the road. Some big acts play there as well.

My family spent time each summer in Murphys when I was a child. My great aunt had a cabin up there. It is really beautiful.

I must have been really early, because I don't remember a stampede to get in - but dear God, that was the hottest damn day. By the time I got out of that place and home I had been up for almost 24 hours straight - didn't drink any water that day, either! I should have been dead.

I had on white shorts and one of the early ROR sleeveless T shirts and by the time I left, they were filthy! I made many, many friends because I actually brought a blanket to sit on! LOL! I think at one point we had about twelve people in the "group". The opening bands sucked big time - I was only there for Journey.

And that made it all worthwhile.

And I'll never do it again as long as I live! :D :D :D

That road out sucked. We didn't get out until morning.

Jonathan did some songs in Japan and at least Chicago and Wisconsin (and other dates) on the Escape tour. So I think those were the first non-Journey songs by a Journey artist, I believe. I know one was Turn Around in Tokyo. I think the other was Too Far Gone, both by The Baby's. I have recordings of Journey doing both. I know they played Don't Fight It, at least in Texas, in 1982 and then again in 1983, at least in Japan. It wasn't played often, as far as I know. Then you had No More Lies at nearly every Frontiers show.

At Mountain Aire, I sat right near the VIP group and it was great. I had a great day. I was a huge Outfield fan too. I saw them a week or so later with Starship and I saw Neil Diamond the night before Journey at the Greek. It was a great concert week.

Throughout the day, I remember people starting to say Journey wasn't going to play, etc. It was crazy. But the show was one of the best I've ever seen. It was a longer show than normal.

I remember seeing Dean and telling my friend, "One day that guy is going to stir up some shit!". :)

i remember a group of people cussed us out for what seemed like hours. they were at the front of the line & first through the gates, so they expected to sit where they wanted, which was in our roped off section.

I think everyone and their brother are in that video. My buddies and I were in the original MTV video, but the jerks reedited it and cut us out on the DVD version. We must have been too ugly.
