I agree. Let's hear it!

People could've said the same shit when Perry was the third singer in what....5 years? That's all semantics. Let the music be your deciding factor not some trivial bullshit excuse conjured up by people with an axe to grind or those with some vendetta against the band because they feel wronged. If it's good and you like it, stay. If not, move on. Seems fairly simple to me.

Poppycock!!! There was "way too much Filipino stuff" because it was more or less a "going away/send off" party for the guy. And out of respect for his country and people he calls fellow countrymen he got sort of patriotic. Had this been an interview with the L.A. Times you would have a point. But it wasn't. Some of you fuckers seem to search for stuff to bitch about, and that is much sadder than a dude doing a simple interview.

That's why I labeled it the "Brotherhood of the Traveling Circus". The show must go on.

Exactly, I was starting to come around to maybe giving it a shot and then I hear this interview and it pisses me off all over again. If the guy would just sing, then we have the information to make an informed decision. Until that happens, none of this BS is going to go away.Andrew wrote:Saint John wrote: Let the music be your deciding factor.

The huge difference is that Perry is the only singer to have sold more than 200,000 albums with Journey. That ends all the arguments. If Journey produces a gold album (500k) with Arnel, then we will something new to debate about. Until then, it's all just pure hype.

No, it makes it more enjoyable for the reader when I agree with you. When I put out good arguments like the one above, I'm sure it's not very enjoyable. But hey, that's what we're here for right? If Perry were still singing for Journey and all was well, this forum would be as dead as the Bon Jovi forum.

If Perry came back now I am sure that would be the case. But what if he never left? Who knows if his voice wouldn't be trashed and this place would be a ghost town?

Seems it's not just American Journey fans making a big deal about a "foreigner" singing with Journey. They're doing enough over there to fan the flames, too. So far, I don't think Arnel is doing himself any favors by what he says in his interviews.

According to some people, most Journey fans don't know that he left. But yes, I agree with you for the most part.

I understand that the Filipinos have a reason to rejoice about Arnel getting the gig with Journey. With their poor economy, there is not much to rejoice about. However, they need to realize that Perry is like a god in the USA. When Arnel's fans flood all the Internet forums and say that Arnel is better than Perry, they are just asking for an argument. It would be no different if a USA singer took over for a Filipino icon and Americans flooded the Philippines with boasts of this new singer being better than their patriarch. Then when people debate what they are saying about Arnel, they call it racism.
Oh well... par for the course I guess. It was bad enough when Augeri took over for Perry and people argued about that for years. Now the race card gets placed in the deck, and it's a whole new reason for debate.
brywool wrote:finalfight wrote:Arnel seems proud of his heritage and achievements. Nothing wrong with that at all.
Exactly. Was this for a Filipino press piece? I thought it was. If it's for a Filipino press piece, then it makes sense that, OF COURSE he'd mention it. Just like when Hilary's running for president- "possible first WOMAN president" or Obama "Possible first BLACK president". Arnel's the first Asian to get a chance to do something like this with an American musical staple of a band- or at least one this popular. I would imagine that this is a VERY big deal to Filipinos. Makes sense to me. As far as the "Filipino cause" I have no idea what that's about, but I would THINK that it means pride in one's country and heritage.

I wonder why we keep coming back then? Maybe because people just can't turn away from a train wreck.

I must have missed the flood or in fact anyone ever mentioning that Arnel is better than Perry? Did this actually happen or were you just speculating?
