They're pretty decent......just starting out on this and it IS way cool...but maddening.
Maybe I need to invest in a cleaner or something.

We used to tape a nickel on top of the stylus and the extra weight would help it keep from skipping. We were a bunch of jury riggin fuckers though.

We were a bunch of jury riggin fuckers though.Yeah...and remember when the knob would eventually break off on the TV? At first we would tape the knob to hold it together...then when the plastic was totally rounded off and that didn't work anymore we would use pliers to turn the stem...worked until all the metal was eventually shredded and was down to a nub that could no longer be reached.
That same TV,.. before cable, we stuck a clothes hanger in where the antenna had been when we broke it off trying to turn it so many ways to get reception. We would use different clothes hangers because some had better pickup then others. Then when one wouldn't work we would add to it....and then the foil came into play. I swear our rec room looked like we were trying to phone home...and sometimes I think we did manage to make contact with the mother ship!Rick wrote:Blueskies wrote:Rick wrote:Maui Tom wrote:larryfromnextdoor wrote:i was thinking about ordering this!! do they skip because the needle is cheap ? or are your albums beat?

I certainly do. Had the pliers stationed right on top of the tv.I was one of those kids that when the tv repair man would come over, I'd be watching everything he did. I always wanted to know how everything worked. I bet he was thinking I wish this damn kid would leave me the hell alone. I'd ask a million questions.

We just clamped on some vice grips so you didn't have to set them on top of the tv. Kinda lazy I guess. Pretty stylish too.
