Pure Class

Postby Saint John » Sun Jan 27, 2008 1:13 pm

I'm sure some of you have seen this, but this is the Oklahoma State football coach responding to a skank broad that wrote an article about one his players that she perceived to have the wrong attitude and is "soft.". I love this guy.

PS Recruiting went through the roof after this aired. I can see why. Pure class.

I appreciate his passion, but he's too emotionally connected. He needs to separate himself from the squad and be a coach, not a mother.

Coaches, especially in college athletics, SHOULD protect their players. These are still basically kids who are not emotionally mature yet. They'll have plenty of time to learn to fend for themselves later on.

The reporter deserved the major public assbeating that he very obviously got.

Not when the media writes lies about how they think you feel about one of your players who was crushed by what he read. I have a feeling you don't know the whole story, Rick. This guy did what needed to be done. Dude, the media, a tight knit group, clapped in that slut's face when he was finished. Even they appreciated what he did.

Sure, but you can't display that kind of emotion and expect to be taken seriously. It's way too transparent. This isn't his first outburst. I don't like his approach. Of course I'm an OU fan. That might shew my opinion on it too.

Apparently, about 80+% of Oklahomans support the guy and think he did the right thing. Sounds like they're taking it seriously to me.

The writer was a chick (Jenni Carlson) and that had to be as sincere sounding a speech as I've ever heard. NOTHING seemed tranparent about that at all. And if it was, he should be in Hollywood. Don't make me have him go off on you too, Rick. I can just see it now...."Transparent?!?!?!...you think I'm transparent?!?!?!"

Hard to defend either side on this one. Big time athletes are pampered beyond belief, beginning at an early age. They work their ass off on the field/court, not so sure about the classroom. They do get special treatment around town/campus. They show up on Sportscenter, act like idiots when they make a basket, make a sack or score touchdown - setting great examples for kids. Oh ya, tatoos are a great thing too. Practice? We're talking about practice! They definitely enjoy the adulations in the papers and on tv. Shouldn't they have to take the bad with the good?

Reporters...what is there good to say about most of them?

Coach Gundy went off, no doubt. Coachs do have a tendancy to offer blind support of their boys.

I think he came off looking like a lunatic. Not the most professional way to handle it, IMO.
