Before I had health insurance, I used to go to Urgent Care Centers. Most towns have them. They're really good at providing basic care for the uninsured. Average bill where I live is around $50 per visit. That amount is what most people pay in health club dues.

Obviously there are times you will need more extensive care, with a specialist whatever. Most doctors provided you offer some reasonable upfront down payment are more than happy to work with you so long as you don't take your sweet time paying the remaining balance.

If my job ended tomorrow, I would go and get another job, hell three jobs if I had too, to pay my way. I've worked retail, check out girl, waitress, shit cleaner picker upper at my mother's hospital you name it. I'd do it again if I had to.

It doesn't take away the idea that we really are responsible for our lives. When we depend on others, like our government for our creature comforts, we're at their mercy and that's not a healthy place to be.

I completey agree with the highlighted portion of your post and don't completely disagree with the rest. I was more inclined to the Republican way of thinking up until Reagonomics and Daddy Bush and I'm nowhere near as liberal as the extreme leftwing element of the Democratic party.

Well you may not be completely hopeless either, but I'm still all about Hill this year. I'd love a Hillary/Obama ticket so that Hillary's influences on established connections can ease the changes into the mechanisms without throwing a wrench into the cogs and gears. Over her first four years she can start the gears changing direction. Over her second term she can start to show people how much smoother they run in that direction. Then Obama can take over and straighten out the inner mechanisms that allowed this country to get in the shape it's in right now.
