iMac 24" inch is a sweet machine. I know a few peeps that have switched recently and they picked that exact model as well.
I switched to Mac 5 years ago and have never looked back.

I'm leaning toward buying it.

Any reasonable person would conclude that is in fact the context of this statement:conversationpc wrote:Mac makes a good OS but there just isn't a wide enough array of available software for them and, most of all, their commercials are extremely annoying.

I'm about ready to make the jump to mac....I'm through with Microsuck.
I've had 2-3 Windows Update related issues with them this week and in all cases, they basically told me to go fuck myself unless I paid up 60 dollars per incident.

Yes,its Dell and its bloatware.. It shouldn't be a pain in the ass or slow.. None of my friends have problems.. Its not Vista either..There is a conflict someone..Do you have a virus or spyware checker.. Try taking out a stick of ram also..When you upgrade ram,you should do it in 2 gig increments..Or the install of Vista got messed up..Do this..Pull a stick of ram out,reformat..So everything is clean, and then reinstall Vista..Better yet,if you can do it with one gig of ram(one stick) that would be even better..I've done this for 20 yrs..I doubt its Vista..I think its the ram..

Macs AND Windows computers are ALL PCs. All PC means is Personal Computer.
Rick wrote:I use XP and doubt I will ever go to the over-bloated Vista. I've heard too many headaches. If I were going to buy a PC for general home use, I'd get a Mac in a minute. But since I'm somewhat of a gamer and burn a lot of DVD's, I'll stick with building my own pc's. That way you get exactly what you want.
As for the antivirus mentioned earlier, there's no need to buy one when you can get a great one free. www.avast.com It's got a light footprint and is one of the best I've used.

I have Vista,I have no problems, neither do my friends..I was also told not to by an iphone because of problems..Guess what,I didn't listen to them either and I love my iphone.. Vista came with his computer, unless he buys XP he has to use it..He will be fine..Every operating system has their problems when they 1st come out..I hate to break the news to you ,even the new Apple Leopard is having issues and people are bitching, just look on their forums..The antivirus program you mentioned, does it do spyware, adware, internet security, protect your identity ect..I doubt it does for free.. He may not need hard core internet protection anyhow..Microsoft has a new internet antivirus program called ONE..I'm trying out for 90 days free..You can too..So far so good..Don't buy into anything you read..Vista is not bloatware..

I'm not sure what I think about Vista yet. The one thing I do know is that this crazy thing is ALWAYS working on something (even now, it is just a chuggin away). Makes for some slow times on the net I tell ya. I have the 1G of RAM and on certain things, it is a might bit.... slow. I hate the fact that NONE of my previous programs will work with Vista (I refuse to put out all that change again on Word, etc...), so I'm stuck running the two systems (this one for the net and fun and the other one - Win95 - for document related stuff). I'm probably one of the reasons Dell switched to allowing new buyers to choose their OS. When they introduced Vista, that was the only thing you could get on most of their systems - without having to pay an arm and a leg. After bombarding them with written and emailed nasty grams... they finally refunded me a whoppin c-note.
Me.... I'm thinking of downgrading to the XP (hell, if that 95 would run some of the stuff I have now, I'd go back to that. Most stable OS they put out to date.).

Hey, if I remembered, doesn't that make me a "smartass?"
Unfortunately, I don't have a pic right now that says "smartass" instead of "dumbass". I'll try to find one for you, though.
Here you go...

I use a MacBookPro - the fan was making noise. Working, but noisy. When I took it in to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store I happened to mention that the battery was shot (the computer is a little over a year old) and I needed to buy a new one.
The guy looks at the battery usage and says "No way should this battery be this low, we'll replace it under warranty." I was impressed.
Of course, with computers being computers no matter who makes them, ALWAYS get the extended warranty. ALWAYS. And max the hell out of your RAM for fantastic speed.
I use a cable modem and this thing just flies!
Once on a a Mac, you'll never go back - all those "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" commercials? BELIEVE THEM!
