Dude, Hitch a Ride has the most unbelievably melodick and perfect guitar solo I've ever heard. The way it starts out and then the harmony guitars layered and the way the song ends on a solo instead of more singing is just sublime.
Speaking of RUSH, "Subdivisions" always gives me the chills right at the intense build up near the end of the song and the drum flourishes at the end of the song. Whew!

I'm a big tough man, so my friend was shocked to see me cry in happiness and emotional overdrive when they played "Subdivisions" at the show I went to. That's one of my top Rush tracks, in fact it was the track that got me into the band.

I'm gonna listen to it now and get a nice "RUSH" right before I hit the hay for the night!Us old timers need our rest. Especially after being worn out from shoveling snow just about every other day up here on the East Coast!

Other than Rush, Journey, and PT I don't think any other band shakes me to my foundation as much as Marillion does. The Fish-era albums are absolutely powerful. Great poetry and very touching music... I LOVE those four albums. I really need to check out their modern output sometime.

I feel your pain, brother! Today's an absolute mess compared to last week's snowfall though. The combination of 4 inches of rainfall plus all the melting snow has resulted in the local rivers and creeks rising at a scary rate. I live a quarter mile from a creek, but I looked out my window today to see the freakin' thing in my neighbor's yard... It won't come up to my house, thank goodness, because we live on a hill... but it's still scary how fast that creek came up!

I can't get into the modern stuff... I've tried. Not only is the voice different, I just don't get the direction they've taken on a lot of stuff. I'm far from an "original group" snob (loved Van Hagar, Augeri era Journey, Styx minus DeYoung, REO minus Richrath etc etc), I just don't like it. I've tried my hardest.
Did you happen to catch DT on their tour last year? They played Surrounded with a segment of Sugar Mice before the piano/vocal outro of Surrounded. It was incredible.

Unfortunately I couldn't catch DT, I was overwhelmed with work when they came through the area.
I'd mark out bigtime for the "Sugar Mice" bit.. I've heard many amazing things about Dream Theater and the little cool things like that they do live in concert.
I've listened to a bit of the most recent Marillion album but that's about all I know of their modern output... from my limited impression it kinda sounds like they're doing cheap Radiohead imitations.
