Traffic is never simple to Tinley Park. Too bad it wasn't at the Allstate Arena or the Sears Centre.

Leave for the show early. Saw Def Lep and Journey there in '06; the place is out on the prairie south of the Lake with 2 lane roads leading to it. A bunch of folks missed Journey's set entirely due to traffic and parking issues.

Surprising amount of adult beverage flowed, though, considering the location.

It's just Journey. Maybe one of them can't cross the border. The bands they have toured with have played here. Def Leppard, Heart, etc....... :?

I just had this funny mental image of Ross, Neal, and Friga robbing a Canadian liquor store.

It's the Smirnoff Amphitheater. That place sucks.

Well that just made up my mind for me! Thanks Rick! Is that the old place back around the Towers of America? I can't keep up with all these name changes.

Hmmmm..... SA is closer, but the Houston gig sounds better. The big D is just too damned far away for a Sunday gig. Hmmm..... Any idea how much it would be for three "decent" seats at either of these venues?[/quote

the only way they are going to sell out a 10,000 seat venue like mohegan sun is if they are planning to advertise and sell tix for this show and not tell anyone that they have a unknown new singer. Not a surprise if and when they do just that.

Hold off on booking flights and hotel rooms just yet. From Cheap Trick's message board:

"Before everyone starts screaming at us "why isn't there a posting" - you should know that the announcement by Heart's people was sent out in error. The "official" tour dates for the summer will be announced by end of business day tomorrow by the appropriate people from the appropriate organizations."

Interesting, but not unexpected. I previously thought the Indianapolis show was on a different night (Sept. 6)

No problem. Speaking of Cheap Trick's message board - you wouldn't believe how many people thinking this tour is "below" Cheap Trick and that they should be headlining. Are you serious? These will be the biggest crowds Cheap Trick will play in front of in a long time.

Cheap Trick...dear Lord. Talk about a fucking gaggle of trailer park fans. I bet they sell cigarettes, Night Train, and Bic lighters at the Cheap Trick souvenir stands rather than t-shirts. No way those low life fuckers can afford anything over $10. Fuck, the ticket price alone will be a week's pay.

How do the concert/venue laws and city ordinances differ from a US city to those in Canada?
If you play in Canada is the tour considered 'international' or 'world'?

Maybe there are several reasons why.
Maybe none at all...other than Perry's "Bon Jour Montreal" back in 1980?
Isn't that enough?

I'm talking about their core fanbase...the 35-55 year olds that you see daily on Springer. I think I can count at least a dozen times where people on that show had a tattered Cheap Trick shirt on. Thank God they're playing first. I'll be in the parking lot with ear plugs in getting hammered. I'll know when they're done by the approaching stench of their fucking unbathed fans as they head back to their double wides.

Welcome to Arkansas! That is precisely why life here is so good. It doesn't take much of an above average salary here to live the life of reilly. This state is absolutely beautiful. The cost of living is low, and so is the crime rate. Who cares if I married my cousin, am missing teeth, and lost a finger in shop class?

Life here is good...really good.
But I guess we're too good for J, H, or CT.
Oh well...their loss...

Dunno - maybe none of the promoters here want them (or know they're even still around  ) Like Deb pointed out - seems like every other American band does dates here. I think they did a few Augeri-era dates in Eastern Canada, but I recall only one concert ever in their history in Western Canada - waaay back in '80 or thereabouts.
