I just recieved a very important news. AP was handed a wrong mic during that performance. according to my source, since it was a live show. there were a lot of confusions going on backstage. makeup, dressing, rehearsals, etc...
so when AP was up, some douchebag of a technical staff, handed him a mic which wasn't tuned properly. so that's it folks, the MIC was out of tune! hope this helps !

He wasn't trying to hit an octave. He was trying to hit a harmony (either a 5th or a major 3rd)....and failed miserably....not a little.

I agree with you. a lot here failed to notice that. probably becoz one viewing is enough since it was painful to hear and never looked at it again for further evaluation.

I tried to scrutinize the video on YT thoroughly, no matter how painful it was to hear and appeared like I was torturing myself. he wasn't trying to belt out more but was trying to go down some notches to compliment the female singer (AP should had taken the lead, instead of backing down). if there was a simplier way of explaining it, AP went from 4th gear, shifted at 2nd gear in a hurry, but got stucked on neutral instead. the shift stick didn't locked in. oh my, the car came crashing down !

Which outtake, MistieJ? I have the sessions, there was nothing on it that was embarrassing to SP.

It was on one of the CDs available at the FTLOSM concerts - Steve screws up the beginning and laughs.

Well Arnel may of sung that part an octave higher or lower, or whatever, but atleast he carried the note! he still sounded powerfull, even if he may of been "out of tune" which I don't believe he was, I just feel that he did a different arrangement, but if it were Perry - nobody would give that a second thought.

Sammy does rock... but there are a lot of hardcore David Lee Roth fans who would argue that, simply because they are loyal to DLR. Same thing happens with Steve Perry fans vs. Current-Journey-Singer fans.

Here....with the population of arneliots, loons, and other random lemmings that infest the online world of journey fandom...I find it hard to know when to take something with a grain of salt or tell someone to run, not walk, to the local psychatric ward.

So, yes...I took that statement seriously. I've seen far worse stated around here, said with 100% seriousness...

You're kidding right? He sounded like ass. There's no power behind a missed note like that. Sorry. If you know anything about singing, you'll know that most missed notes are a result of either a lack of power or an inability to project power at the time the mis-note was sung.

In this particular case, you're giving credit to arnel's voice for the 'power' you hear...and completely discrediting the fact that a microphone was 2 inches from his teeth and the soundman wasn't enough on the ball to drop the faders to get rid of the putrid note.

Listen...everyone fucks up while singing....well, the person that original sang arnels parts never did....but most motal humans fuck up....so this is not the issue.

What's more so the issue is that it seems that there's a whole horde of arneliots jumping in to throw excuse after excuse as the reason for why he fucked up that note. Instead of just saying "yeah, the guy isn't as perfect as I once thought!"

Sorry, the guy tried to hit a 5th, and made a complete ass out of the note....move on.

If Exotic Journey tours Arnel the way they toured between 2002 and 2006, there's going to be ALOT more fucked up notes to talk about. This is just the first of many. The true fun is yet to come....

I've got enough boots to prove otherwise...However, I will say that he screwed up less than most other singers that I've heard.

Go ahead and try to swing it in my direction, Bone...it wont work.

I'm NOT here detracting arnel and his missed note. i've made it 100% clear that everyone fucks up. I've also made it 100% clear (in the post you quoted I might add) that what I am not harping on is Arnel's fucked up note...

Nice try...

Well, I dunno...ask the moderator? He seems to think I have an agenda....I was trying to make the very point you just made.

Instead, it's "oooooh, watch out for the coordinated hate-arnel attack. it's coming!"

How rediculous...

Mine either... Especially considering certain people here come into any and every thread just to post something negative about the band in some way and then hide behind the "I'm entitled to my opinion" defense. If a post starts off with some praise for the band in some way, certain people come in and try to drag it down. If it starts out as a dig against the band, those same certain people jump on it and run... Seems pretty clear to me
