Just because they decided to take it as oh, he just needs some time off, he'll be back wasn't his fault.

Journey ended for me when Perry left. Sure, he was a jerk and drove Rollie away and messed up the Frontiers cover and the ROR album, but for me Journey will always be the memories I have from 1978 - 1983.
Now I take my leave again.

No? What's your point? I'm simply saying that we are all responsible for our choices, for better and for worse. They all at one point or another made bad decisions, and I think it highly unfair to scapegoat one person. Same with Tape Gate. The band knew, and allowed that to happen. Hell, the record label had to have known too. These thngs don't happen under rocks.

I don't have a point. You were the one that said all of this debate back and forth was pointless, cause you've determined in your own words that "And I for one, believe SP when he says that he told Jon and Neal back in 86 that he wanted to stop completely. Just because they decided to take it as oh, he just needs some time off, he'll be back wasn't his fault."
So, okay..that's what you've determined and believe. Others have different beliefs and feel the need to express it. Just because you've made up your mind, doesn't make others wrong for wanting to express their opinions. That is all.

Never said that people aren't allowed their opinions. I pointed out quite evenly where they were both wrong. I just can't stand the scape goating of Perry.

Like I said..you've made up your mind, so why call people out just because they differ in opinion? Again, that is all.

Is it that I'm calling people out or defending Perry? The threads of people that have completely turned against him outnumber my singular thread. And trust me, I would hardly be the first person to post here calling people out. And, if you actually read my post I wasn't calling anyone out, just stating my opinion of the situation.

Gnawing over the past events of the band members is nothing but poison. It will ruin a good Journey/SP fan. Who here wasn't a happier fan before they read all of this shit? All of us were. We're better off not knowing, and to be honest, it's none of our business, because it's not our business, it's theirs.

Some good points. I hadn't thought about the angle that if Neal was so ready to re-form the group, why did he wait 8 years? I guess, though, there was Bad English and other projects that kept him busy. Still, an interesting take. As for the re-recordings - good Lord, that just makes me want to hurl.

Thanks for the info... Reading the new article is on my weekend to-do list.
According to Perry in the interview. it sounds like they were still legally a band, no divorce yet. So apparently Perry hadn't completely quit the band.
Nice to hear from you, I still think your girl is hot, and thanks for the Tall Stories Cd ,take care budknox wrote:I haven't posted in a LONG time, because couldn't care less about the current Journey.

I would have loved to have heard JSS's voice on them instead, & I don't think it would have been disrespectful of Perry, esp. since JSS has always stated for a long time now how much of an influence Perry was to him as a singer. His version of SHML (on his Essential Ballads cd), it's simply stunning. I know I'm probably in an itsy bitsy minority who thinks this about the re-records, but I'll listen to them as just other versions of great songs. They won't erase Perry.

that's true, m. I hadn't thought of it that way. just an cover of a great song. not an erase. thanks!! i was having trouble wrapping my head around this re-record concept. didn't they do it cuz wally wanted them to? i wonder if they REALLY wanted to. compromise is the name of the music game sometimes.
