Barb was correct with her initial assertion. Don't try and correct her ever again.

They didn't change the name when he entered the band so they shouldn't have had to when he left.
Best reasoning I've heard on this subject so far.

ONLY NINE? Those were only the nine most productive years of Journey yielding the most hits, etc. What a way of marginalizing. As much as I'm looking forward to hearing the band live for the first time ever, I can tell you in own experiences that whenever I bring up Journey whether it be to a friend or out and about, the average person, A. Doesn't know they are still together, and B. Know that Steve ever left. That makes him synonmous with Journey and any singer that comes after him except again to the fans on this board as Mr. Lead singer Who? I have no problem with them going forward, but I do have a huge problem with what I see as the GREAT PERRY WHITE OUT.
Arnel is great in his own way, but he's no SP, and I wish people would stop making the comparisons.

The point I am trying to make is all of the commercial success that Journey had was with Perry

Well, let's see....how many hits did Journey have before Steve Perry????............what was the reason why he was brought into the group?????
The point I am trying to make is all of the commercial success that Journey had was with Perry and if they would have just changed the name when they split, maybe it would have saved a whole lot of arguing, criticisms and bad feelings.

Some people slam Perry because it's the "in thing" to do. Some slam Augeri for the tapegate thing. Some slam JSS because they just don't know any better. Some have slammed Arnel because of Neal and Jon and diction issues. Others are just Styx fans.

I find myself in the awkward position of defending both Perry and Neal... when the Perry Loons come here and slam Journey, I defend Journey, when the new Arnel loons say that Arnel is better than Steve Perry, I want to smack the batcrap out of them too. I love them both and will defend them both.

That was done a couple years ago and failed miserably.

What constitutes a "home run" in your book Stone Cold?

As for all the SP "new release" talk, I don't get it.
Enjoying new Journey doesn't negate the older stuff.
If he releases something SOMEDAY, great. If not, whatever.

The new SP album "Portuguese Democracy" to be released within the next 10 years.

Actually - according to your logic - Perry was with the band for 20 years.

Huh? He was with Journey from late '77 to early '87, so about 10 years. Then add one more year for 1996 and the making of TBF. 11 years

Okay...then deduct ten years from Journey's "35 years". Journey were out of the game too from 86 to 96.
