Who really discovered Arnel Pineda?

At one point Jonathan Cain said that his daughter fourn Arnel and brought him to Cain's attention.

That was going around for a while.

Then after the annuncement was made, Neal claimed to discover him.

Perhaps that was done to deflect some of the negative comments.

With Jouney, sometimes it is difficult to find the truth - everyone (including fans) have their own versions that they swear by and will get hostile if anyone doubts what their grandmother's hair dresser told them.

That's vintage Reardon right there.
Probably set it up just for sake of having a timebomb like that to be discovered at a later point (just like it happened)

I don't know for sure where Arnel's name first came to the attention of others, but I do know the first time it came to mine was the many posts here. I spent some time admiring his Survivor covers and thinking Frankie could use him.

I seem to recall Jeff saying in an interview Neal first heard about him and contacted him through MR/you. Damn Drew, Journey's last 2 lead vocalists! You're missing out on some serious finders fees here!  :P

I remember when rumor flying around Pineda will be the next Journey's frontman, MR went crazy. It's like WW III started at MR and bullets are flying all over. Andrew (United Nations) did a good job stabilizing this site.

Yeah...but we're talking about Neal here.

Didn't he basically give you credit for bringing Soto to his attention? That should be good enough. :D

Yep, AJM made made the JSS/Schon connection one of the many things that goes down in the lore of our site.

Neal found Pineda on this site. Nora I believe was the first to post about him. Neal initially tested the waters in that "locknload" thread. This was while there was a lot of negativity about me here and elsewhere by JSS fans, which I think also played into Neal's paranoia about me...This was only a few days after I got back from CA, got the Schon-two step after my job offer, told them to look somewhere else. Cain and Toomey had a shit fit about it, telling Neal he had "scared off" another singer. Neal sent me an email saying he "didn't expect me to quit so easily." Neal then got Azoff and company to track down Arnel, proving to Cain and Toomey that he could pull off this coup, and then it took about a month to figure out how to get him to US. During that time Neal continued to text me, etc....Finally they got him to the states....Neal was adamant that this was the guy, and Cain at first wasn't so sold on the idea. But he continued to improve and recorded some really good demos of the material we had worked on, and the rest is history.

And that's the straight scoop!

LOL.....they don't teach that dance in dance school...I asked.

However, after taking a few classes on partnerships, I discovered that they *do* teach it in business school. It's the first topic when you get to "Partnerships: dissolutions and lawsuits"

Eh. Not as much. My favorites were the JSS fans (I think his road manager that posts here as well) posted unflattering pictures of me from my impressions show about 6 years ago calling me a clown and what a joke Journey was. Well, water under the bridge as it was, to quote a phrase!
