Please define "a lot."

There you go - that reply is precisely what I mean.
Sarcasm. Without humour.

I don't have the details of precisely how many seats there are at the various venues Journey played in Europe last year - but I would say they hold 'a lot' of people.
We were expecting SA. We got JSS. The audiences I was a member of looked 'won over' to me.

And I was at a show that a lot of the audience was pissed because there was a guy up there singing who didn't sound like the guy that replaced Perry. What does it prove? Nothing.

It proves that you can define "a lot"

:P

I can also twist a cherry stem with my tongue. I'm good like that.

Sorry, but I don't think it makes sense to me.

That's a double standard for silliness.
Silly homosexual innuendo against individual Journey members is okay,
but just-as-silly appreciation for the same folks is verboten?
(Unless it's coming from the Loons, LOL..)

For what it's worth, I don't think Drew has ever forbidden "appreciation threads".

The words of Andrew's opening post on this thread notwithstanding,
he HAS actually locked at least one down, on principle of BEING so appreciative:
Ross Valory Appreciation Thread
and if a site-owner's action isn't indicative of policy, then hey *shrug*. There was nothing stopping
negative comment on Ross' playing/humor/skincare from surfacing there, or in its own threads.

He has locked another thread down, apparently on principle of being as-syrupy silly:
Fun Forum Game,
which I, from a personal standpoint, supported because I thought it was trivial, unrelated to Journey,
and a potential bandwidth hog, (the board is not unfamiliar with bandwidth issues, no?) although I must admit,
the interlude soon had me wondering where that would leave the venerable "Single Word Thread", or
"The 2008 MR Forum Member Photo Gallery", and a host of other such non-Journey-related silliness.
The sense of community here would suffer if all silliness was to be discouraged.

Andrew wrote:

Actually it's not. I have asked those comments to stop and I trust they will.

Well, that's a bit of a dodge, Andrew.
"Those comments" seem to have been able to prosper here for quite some time.
These appreciation threads however, seem to have earned intervention far more quickly.

As you claimed at the start of this thread, MR is "a place where folks could say how they
really felt about this band and other topics, without fear of being closed down because
you weren't a cheerleader for the band."

Organizing forum members to buy quantities of Revelation in excess of personal need,
just to attain gold/platinum status for the album --now THAT is cheerleading, and I don't
think that sort of fluff has ever prospered here, nor ever can.

The board has indeed been shifting towards a positive sentiment towards Journey.
That isn't a problem, because the critical members of the forum seem just as critical
as before --they just see a decent album, a rechargedband, and are appreciative of it.
Is your Revelation review to be dismissed just because it was positive?
Because appreciated the content?

We've expressed negative criticism in both serious and silly manner, and while the latter
can lead to misinterpretation, this place wouldn't have the sense of community it enjoys
without some silliness.

Why can't that same silliness attend the expression of positive criticism? of appreciation?
You can trust your board's members to hammer any real cheerleaders into a more critical
mode of appreciation.

Your board's quality and identity goes beyond being a mere antithesis of some other,
and I think it doesn't need to keep referencing some sad baseline to define itself.
Its qualities speak for itself. Be proud of it, and don't think so little of its durability.

Hey, you asked for comment.
I'm done.

-wech.

* Jeff was not just a temporary fix, like you think he was. He was hired to finish the tour and later on approached and announced at the NEW SINGER. You come with your insider info you get from Susie, but for the real answers you will never be close enough to the band to state your fake facts and "you know who you are", deano-wannabe statements.

*If youre trying to prove a point that Jeff isnt as popular as Journey, its a no-brainer..... but I can guarantee you that his fans are more loyal to him than Journey fans ever will be to Journey and thats ANOTHER FACT for you. You see, when I go to a show with 200 people there to see Jeff, they are all true Jeff fans and theyre all there to see him,,, and they know all his songs and they know all about him,,,,,, when you go to a Journey show, with lets say 20.000,,,, 19000 of those people show up there just to party and have some fun,,,, just like they were there the last week for band X and next week for Band Y.......only a 1000 will show up there for the BANDS i and out of that a third of it is true Journey fans,,,,,

Now , you have made your points clear to all of us regarding where Jeff stands, in your opinon, backed by all your facts. But anytime you bring it up, just know that we will respond. Its simple...... You go back in this very thread and see how and why Jeff was brought up and by whom. If you start it, We'll finish it for you. And thats your final fact for today.

Now the touchy subject that is Jeff Scott Soto and this kind of goes along with point 1 above. [comment: I think the response to my innoncent suggestion proves it's a touchy subject. The point 1 above referred to my first suggestion of non-Journey posts should not go in the forum. It was related to this point.] I understand he is a former member of the band, BUT he has his own forum two doors down. So, I think anything about him should go there. I would say the same thing about any former member of the band who had their own forum. They do not, Soto does. So, I would suggest all Soto topics be placed there and any other former or current member topics stay in the Journey forum unless Mr. McNeice decides to open up another forum for a former/current member(s). [comment: I said, what you people are saying he was a former of the band. However, he is the ONLY ONE that has his own forum. Therefore, topics about him naturally should go there. I also said that would apply to any former as well as current members of the band if they had their own forum. So I was NOT singling out Soto.] This could in the future and would have in the past prevented some dust ups. [comment: Read the last two pages which will prove this last sentence.]

Yeah, he had a pretty bad temper too! Always ready to mix it up. Him and Glen Hanlon were a pretty good pair in the '80s. :D

I was giving a suggestion. Soto was only part of it. Re-read point 1 and then what I said in point 2. In point 2, I said any member that has their own forum should be discussed there. Soto is the only one that has the privilege. You're really taking this out of context and blowing it up.

I think Rhiannon alluded to this, Andrew is going to shit when he wakes up and sees this is at 5 pages and probably 6+ by the time he gets to it.

Well lets work on gettin it to the 10th page....Drew wouldnt care as long as we're following his rules.....
On another note, I think you were wise not to make any comments earlier where you said "I was gonna say something but I wont",,, cause that could have been your one way ticket out of here.

Man, you take the fun out of everything.....
