Ok Lora,

It sounds like you're clearly on the page of you don't like this song because it sounds like Journey. I know you have a close connection to Steve Perry. You share a lot of insight and Perry info, I really appreciate that. I have a question for you. Will you ever be able to tolerate or appreciate anyone other than Perry singing for Journey?

If you can't I don't have any issue with it, Perry was the best ever. I just really thought that Arnel sounded great and did his own thing on NWA. Yep, it sounded like Be Good to Yourself but I thought his vocals were pretty dang good. What do you think.

L8r,

Aaron

I don't see it as a rehash of anything, I see it as a band putting out music in what has become their signature style. If it's good, it's good and, rehash or not, that is a strong, catchy song.

Well, you obviously have different standards for music that you enjoy. Nothing wrong with that. Diversity is what makes the world go around. Personally, I am not interested in what my ears tell me is rehashed material. I don't feel ripped off monetarily, though as I have not (and will not) be paying for this.

Not a big Journey fan, although I do respect them. The stuff you all have posted sounds ok, but not as good as the 80's songs. Sounds like they are copying their past a bit. Now not being a big fan, but a casual fan, that may be all they need to do - I don't know. Whatever makes the fans happy is all that matters. Heck, if Triumph records something new, I got no idea what to expect. Just glad it will be the original 3 though!!!!

Same deal with Higher Place, Faith in the Heartland, Out of Harms Way, Livin' To Do, Kiss Me Softly, Live and Breathe, Beyond the Clouds, All the Things.... "Live and Breathe" sucks. Especially Augeri yodeling off-key for the last 5 minutes "yeah, yeah, yeah."
Even pro-tools couldn't fix that shit.

It's not one of my favorite tunes but I kinda like it...Just as I say this, "Rawthigh" comes on from Tyketto's "Shine" album. Kickass tune.

I don't know about that.
Depends largely by which Perry-era you define Journey. If the gritty post-ROR rasp was your bag, then JSS delivered in spades.
Tons of soul.
Arnel seems to have the versatility to cover the Infinity-era soaring highs, but also has a nice throaty edge to cover the later stuff.

Personally, I'd take Jeff working the Perry-vibe on "Coming Home" over anything I've heard from Arnel so far. Just slightly.

Ooo.
Not a fan of that, either.

Kinda like "Every Generation" petering out with the lyrically comatose "NANA NAH NANA NAH."

Well if NWA sounds like “Be good to yourself” and “Believe in me” sounds like NWA and Neal played guitar on all “3” songs, where does that leave things?

I thought so.

Never walk away supposedly rips off Be good to yourself from 1986. If it sounds like Believe in me also then Believe in me must have ripped off Be good to yourself since it is older then NWA. Neal was involved with all 3 songs, he's even in the JSS video for Believe in me so how can he rip off his own song? and if he did, well it's his freakin song anyway.

I suppose what is being inferred is
BGTY is a Journey tune

True Neal Schon played on BIM so there was a callaboration.
but I don't see a strong tie between BGTY & BIM/NWA

To my ears
BIM & NWA
are almost the same except for the bass drum
& some embellishments

Only difference I really hear is
BIM alternates single/double kick to the bass drum
where as NWA is a straight bass drum

Frankly Be Good To Yourself
is faster tempo & slides back on the beat a bit
It's different than the above two.

Even if Neal collaborated on BIM
it doesn't give him the right to
change the bass line a bit, rewrite lyrics & repackage it

OOOOOOhhhh....
Hmmmm
Guess if you can rerecord the classic Journey tune
with a new voice you can do anything...

Not wanting to drive myself crazy with this
but DWA no longer sounds like BGTY anymore

That's all I'll say
