Now to Heart. WOW!! What can I say that hasn't been said. Ann Wilson absolutely tore the place apart with her incredible vocals. Her voice still sounds like it did in the 80's. Nancy sang lead as well, and though she sang fine, you can tell the tone of her voice has changed. Not so with Ann. At first the guitar was too loud and Ann wasn't loud enough. That was quickly remedied by the second song. Pretty much the same setlist that everyone else has been reporting. All in all, a great performance that primed the crowd for Journey.
Next up Journey. The PA system started playing Back in Black by AC/DC and toward the end of the song, the video screen turned on with the members of Journey backstage in the hallway getting ready to come out. Ross was making funny faces at the camera and Deen was playing air drums to Back in Black. He has changed his look and kinda of has a Tommy Lee look to him. The band started walking down the hall to the stage and the place erupted. The final strains of Back in Black faded as Neal's guitar intro led into Majestic and then into the first song Never Walk Away. From the opening strains you could tell Arnel was going to have a good night and indeed he did. It appears he has maintained some nice consistancy on this tour which bodes well for the future.
The setlist was pretty much the dirty dozen with Change For The Better and After All These Years being the other new ones played. They also played La Do Da which pleased me immensly. Did a great job on that one too! Arnel killed on Faithfully and AATY. They ended with Any Way You Want It instead of LTS which was fine with me. I'm kind of sick of LTS to be honest with you.
About the only complaint I had was that Arnel's voice was kind of muffled sounding for most of the show. It sounded like the low end bass part of his voice had too much EQ which made the midrange part of his voice sound muffled. Also, when he hit the high notes it seemed as thought the PA system was distorting a bit. Maybe he needs to back off the mic a bit when hitting those.
I know I didn't mention the rest of the band, but they were their old reliable selves. Neal, Jon, Ross, and Deen played and sang great and seemed to be having a great time with Jon really seeming into it. Seems to like playing lots of guitar as well.
Time to get back to work. I'm sure their is more I can add but it's all been said before. Was a very enjoyable night!
