I am NOT stirring the pot. I am VOICING opinions. Isn't this what the thread was about. FREEDOM OF SPEECH?
I told you all I am opinionated. I am also patiotic as all get out. Sorry, you all forgot what it is like to be a true American.

I am also sick to death of everybody making someone else out to be this golden idol who can do no wrong and is so perfect.
Give me a break. People can be talanted as heck and still be jerks. Nothing wrong with that. Don't they call it "creative energy".
Let's talk about Cain. He doesn't seem to draw so much gunfire.

I agree totally with his opinion, he is so on the money with that.strangegrey wrote:Rhiannon wrote:People are too damn sensitive anymore. Fly off the handle at one little comment... or take what other people say too serious or literal.
Not to mention all the PC bullshit.
I think that's more the case.
While I don't think, in civil terms, we've lost our freedom to speech...what has happened, is that sensitivity has bubbled to rediculous levels, which has created a dreadfully low threshold for discussions that may be offensive or offputting to a minority.
Back 20 years ago, you could say anything and very little could be labeled as 'not apropriate to say.' These days, that list is so much larger, that people are forced to watch what they say in all walks....My father was 100% right about PC. He labelled it a type of speech-control. It's a subtractive way to limit the freedom of speech, without actually lowering the threshold at the civil level.

I don't give a Cain's ass about what you type. You really should think about what you say before you hit the "submit" button...and be sure that the idea you're trying to convey won't be misconstrued by others.
I look at the "Modes of Transportation" thread and noticed that on page one, you edited yourself a total of SEVEN times!...Obviously you have freedom of speech AND freedom of modifying everything you say. That's one confusing thread if you're just jumping in for the first time.

A show like "All In The Family" would NEVER EVER EVER get close to being aired today. That show broke EVERY rule it could think of and even a few it couldn't think of!Gunbot wrote:People back then knew it was art imitating life.
Perhaps, eventually. It didn't start out that way. The truth is that before EVERY episode of "All In The Family", during its first season, there was a warning before the show started (and it actually had "WARNING" in big letters) that basically told people "Listen, this show is probably going to piss you off, and offend 90% of the population". It was the most brilliantly written show, and the best cast ever assembled on tv. It's unfortunate that we'll never see anything like it again.

That has to be one if the dumbest things I've read here in awhile. Did she seriously just blame Perry because she got told something here that she didn't like?

Why all the SP hate? Just because he's an eccentric, cat-punching, closet homosexual (you might have a chance after all Bobby) who has more fans than he can count yet hasn't sang anything or toured in over a decade...what's wrong with that? Give the guy a break will ya!![]()
