DrFU wrote:Past midnight and Deb's still out partying w/ rockers ... I'm toasted, so I guess the update's on me tonight.

Day started with me setting off the fire alarm in our Manchester Hotel by spraying too much of Mimi's industrial strength hairspray; seriously, this happened, Deb's got it on video. Train to Nottingham was quite the adventure with 3 changes in a two hour journey, but we made it.

Hotel is literally around the corner from the Firefest venue & the place is littered w/ rock stars ... and Wombats, radio personalities, and assorted Journey/JSS/SA fans from both boards. Dinner w/ Pam, Pam, Maria, & Sandy, and then off to the meet & greet that was held at The Rig, a club next to Rock City, which is the main Firefest venue. Got the t-shirs and programs, listened to Drew's new duo Beggars & Thieves (who sounded really good), spotted Danny Vaughn & some of the Danger Danger guys, fought the crowd for a while, and that was it for me; jet lag has caught up.

Thanks, Matt, for the time change info.; that was helpful.

A couple of pics below; I'm sure Drew and some of the others have more to add ...

what a day!!!!!

We started the day. With a bang when we joined for breakfast by the Wombat himself. After that, the day was pretty uneventful.......... hehe

Talon started it off with bang singing songs from their new album "Fallen Angels".

Loud and Clear is the surprise talent for me. We had an acoustic teaser at the meet and greet last night and vowed to not miss that show today. Wow. Jess Harnell is a consumate performer and entertainer with a voice that won't quit. Wow

We went to lunch and walked in on a huge ovation for Paul Laine. Maybe we shouldn't have skipped that. Matt will gave to help us with that one.

Hugo and valentine had the whole house singing every word! Amazing.

JSS. Omgosh. Rocked the SCHUTT outta the place. Setlist? Heck no! Songs 1st time live were Mountain, testify and Our Song.

Setlist provided by Gary--thanks!!!!!

21st century
Just the bass intro to Color My XTC. Grrrrrr. WTFluff. Hmph
Soul Divine
Our Song
Drowning
Mountain
Eyes of Love
Testify
Broken Man
Hey- with JSS on acoustic ( his takamine)
Crazy
Piano acoustic medley---If This Is The End, Holding On, Nobody Said It Was Easy and 4 U!!!!!!!! Woohoo 4 u!!!!
Gin and Tonic sky
I'll Be Waiting
Funky Medley

Fashion police report - JSS wore the 21st Century video outfit

More tomorrow. Mimi is partyied out. The rock stars at the after party. Oh my. Yes SA. Yes I cried luke a baby . IAmSuchADork. Sheesh......danny Vaughn. Ted Poley. HUGO! Did I mention Steve Augeri? Oh yeah.

3 am. Zzzzzzzzz

How old is Steve Augeri? He really looks great. None of the Journey lead singers, current or past, look their age. Unbelievable.

JSS's setlist looks great. I would love to hear Broken Man and Gin and Tonic Sky live.

I've had a drink and a couple of conversations with SA and will meet with him and Jack Morer again shortly. The man (as well all know) is an absolute gentleman. All class.

Hugo's cold got the better of him, but he did ok and JSS literally tore the place up. He owned that place yesterday. 1200 in attendence.

More later...gotta go do my thing...
