The internet won't be around any more when Perry releases new music.

He'll re-record Journey's GH to make the cd package a double album so it counts as two sales.

It, worked for Neal. I don't see why it wouldn't work for Steve.

I wouldn't go as far as to say it "worked" for Neal, and that was one of the probably top 3 worst decisions that band EVER made. I can't for a minute conceive the idea that SP would ever do that but god, if he did, I swear, I'd just cry.

You, really think it's a bad idea? I don't know maybe it would be a bad idea.

Yeah I do. Even if Journey hadn't done it, and SP did, I'd say the same thing. But if he did that right after Journey did... wtf? THAT would just look all kinds of bad. But I can't even entertain a "what if" here, because I seriously don't think he'd ever go and record those songs over again. If he did, I'd find the means to personally contact him and ask him straight up if he'd lost his ever-lovin' mind.

I might be too involved in this wacky hypothetical.

If SP redid the hits with a filipino band brought over on a work visa, that would be cool, wouldn't it?

I didn't think about It in that light; you make a great point , I doubt Perry would do something like that; if I am to take stock in some of the things he has said in interviews about how he feel about their children in common. But if he was that kind of person it probably wouldn't bother him at all to do something like that, which he probably won't because he seen to like travelling the highroad and there's not a thing wrong with that either. :)

Wouldn't it be cool if we find out that Perry is a Satanist, and he sold his soul to the devil in exchange for 10 years of having an Angel's voice.
It would definitely give him some street cred and stop those gay rumors that float about now and then.

The only releases will we see from SMFP are old shows on DVD, and unreleased old songs and/or official collaborations that have yet to be released.....

if you are waiting for current stuff, keep holding your hands over your ass.

If/when Mr Perry does release some new music maybe he should consider releasing a 2 cd set, a cd of new music and 2nd cd containing acoustic versions of Journey's greatest hits ( JMHO )

He no longer has Columbia/Sony contracts, so do you think he would go the way of Journey and the Eagles and do the Wal Mart type thing?

Or do you think he would go to a smaller label with it, or just start his own label? Lots of options for him these days.

Also, do you honestly think a new SP release would sell as much as the Journey's latest has?(without the two disc BS). I mean FTLOSM went gold quickly and slowly got to platinum, I wonder how much his fanbase and the Journey fanbase would actually buy. This is all assuming he wouldn't "tour" in a conventional way, but would maybe do some spotted shows in support of the release.

Now, please don't respond with the same tired "he'll never do this" response, because we don't know for SURE that he will, but there are signs that it could. I'm talking about, if it DOES happen.

On a final note, I often wonder what it would be like to hear the 1978 SP sing Faithfully, Why Can't This Night Go On Forever, or Don't Be Down On Me Baby. And to hear the Frontiers/TBF SP sing Pateintly or Homemade Love type stuff, which he would have to approach differently. Whatta ya think?

No way Steve would redo his old work! SP's work always reflects his life experience at the time it's put out....

So, the new music might be titled: Avoidance! The Runaway Years
Featuring collaborations with aging pop icons of the 80's with SP backups in a raspy rap "Someday, Baby..... I'm working on it....Hold on baby". Fans begging, groaning, sighing, interspersed with Steve's raspy breathing.....
Solo cut: Silence to the instrumentation of Go Away

Probably sell well.

Well hey....CDBaby is most excellent....

It seems that he does a lot of "Studio Work" - keeps things on the "back-burner"....because he's "been writing" lately...
So, who knows?

Still hoping against hope, tho.....

I really think if SP wanted to make a splash, he would have released something after seeing the success of Revelation, but now I think that window of opportunity has closed. It won't be about number of sales now if anything comes out because I can't see him even hitting gold. It will be more about giving something back to his fans who have waited patiently all these years. I'm not talking Journey fans, I'm talking Perry fans.

The New Perry CD will be delivered by Zamboni!!! The Zamboni will be driven by a shivering devil who has just been put out of work when a thick layer of ice overtook his pit of brimstone and fire.
