Read "Freakonomics" sometime, where the author suggests the very plausible explanation that the reason the crime rate went down in the last 20 years is because abortion kept a significant percentage of the children who would have been born to socio-economic groups most likely to commit violent crimes from ever being born.

You are looking at it wrong. If we truly had a libertarian or strict constitution interpretation then your argument may hold water. Here's the problem, you're saying they should have those rights. However, I don't have any rights to disapprove of their behavior. Specifically, I don't have have the right to refuse service to them if I want, or fire them if I want, or calling them a name if I want. I have no individual right to disown this behavior. If I did any of the above I would be sued and probably lose my business or be charged with a (unconstitutional) hate crime. I am forced to accept and tolerate their behavior. Therefore, the battle lines are drawn. They want so called equality, how about reinstalling my individual constitutional rights first or at least at the same time. Until that happens no f-cking way.

Furthermore, I'm already starting to see people say conservatives should modify their approach i.e. drop or minimize social issues. First of all, with the possible exception of abortion, we are not the ones who started it. The left are the ones who want to change not conservatives who are mostly just trying to defend the status quo. If social issues are to be taken off the table, than the left should be the ones to drop it and not the right. Conservatives are not trying to take away or change the 2nd admendment or 1st admendment,etc. That's the left with gun control and hate speech. We did not start this fight. Go to a gay pride parade sometime or some gay neighborhoods, hell go to the Minneapolis airport men's restroom. Go to any forest preserve in the Chicago area or up to Montrose Harbor if you don't think they don't do it in public. When my mom worked at the DuPage County courthouse they average 5 (homo) public indecencies cases a week from the forest preseves. Also, I have friends who work for the forest preserve district and you won't believe what they see and find in the forest preserves.

Technically, government will be in their business with gay marriage. Like I said in a different post. The government will force me to accept this behavior. Specifically, I cannot fire or refuse service to a gay couple. If I owned an Insurance company I am forced to pick up their "spouse" even if I don't want to. I know they arleady have domestic partners they must accept but is that right? Plus, churches will probably now have to accept homosexuals as wells. If I/we do any of the above, I would be sued and/or charged with a hate crime.
