Looks like he will be.

I don't recognize him. I have zero respect for him.

So, are you heading to Canada? If you stay here Obama will be your president, whether you like it or not. Your world must be very small indeed.

 Fail.

Canada is far more socialist and liberal than we've ever thought of being.

That's why I said a small world, I've been to over three dozen different countries in my life. America is still top dog. If you want to compare Obama to a fascist or Socialist, heaven forbid, why would you continue to live here under such a terrible leader. if McCain was President, I would say the same thing to anyone who posted such drivel. Go spend a week in Darfur or Goma, go hunt for food to feed your kids in East Timor. I spit on people that talk like this. Go renounce your citizenship. Go to the doors of parents who have lost a son or daughter in Afghanistan or Iraq and tell them why President Obama and the people who voted for him suck, and after that get the fuck out of MY country.

Does anyone wonder why people don't want to go in the military anymore? Who can blame them? Regardless of party affiliation, would you want to defend people that don't want to recognize our president, be it Bush, Obama, Carter, Reagan or who ever has been duly elected?

Which one of the above do you think has most been a target of this behavior? Throw in Clinton as well, if you'd like...

I have a quick question regarding the military. I'm just guessing you are or were in the military, and I have no clue who you voted for, but if it was Obama, how do you feel about him becoming Commander In Chief with zero military service or experience? I've always been curious about this since I grew up an Air Force brat, I have lived overseas, etc. It's always amazed me that military service is not a requirement to even run for President, let alone become President. I know my father feels the same way, just curious to hear other military member's opinions 8)

I was in the Marine Corps, I don't think it should be a requirement, and neither did our Founding Fathers.

It is not a good idea to allow Military leadership to have much, if any, civilian leadership. Too often in history we have seen what happens when the military is allowed to lead.

Make it a requirement would allow Presidents to build a base of power removed from the electorate, prior to their being elected, and could (and has in other countries) allow an individual to usurp the powers granted in the Constitution via the military.

I <3 Patriotism. I lived with a smarmy Irishman who thought patriotism was a load of bullshit. I can't believe that people in some parts of the world feel no allegiance or pride for their homeland.

That out of the way, my comment wasn't directed at you about moving to Canada. It was directed at those who feel those sentiments. This is the best country regardless of what problems and kinks we have and face. And those who are pissed at the outcome of this election need to just calm down instead of running rampant like a bunch of Chicken Littles with a falling sky. :)

I really don't have a problem with that. Reagan, who's only role in the military was to make movies, due to his poor eyesight, was an outstanding Commander. Under Clinton's term, many enlisted folk who were weary of him during his first term, had no problems embracing him (especially after his decisive decision regarding Haiti, which took everyone by surprise, giving his lack of experience). Bush was in the National Guard and never left U.S. soil, but I didn't hold it against him. He like Clinton and Reagan depended on the people around them to make the critical decisions regarding use of force or other issues involving our military. I expect Obama to surround himself with intelligent people and and definitely avoid having a hawk like Rumsfeld in his Cabinet.

I was listening to a talk show about an hour ago at lunch and Daniel Carver, who is a former kkk 'grand dragon' was on... what this guy was saying, omg... it was all about how the blacks (not the word he used of course) have taken the country and how terrible it is, and white people are going to wake up and realize what they've done and Obama will only get 4 years because when the whites realize what a mistake it was electing a black man, they won't re-elect - then his wife got on the phone and she was even worse!!

They pointed out to her that Obama was a Harvard man, etc... and she said that comes from the "white" part of him.

Talk about people who need to be slapped in the mouth and told to shut up. Jeesh!

You know I'm actually glad you brought up his name. I want to puke when everyone brings him up (especially after Obama's victory) and say how big this is. Actually, Obama is bigger than JFK. JFK barely won in 1960 and the only reason he won was due to the old Mayor Daley stealing the election for him in Cook County and LBJ in Texas. Without that Nixon would've won Illinois, Texas, and the election. Even after that he only won the popular vote by .1% still the closest race recently.

More revisionist history by the media. They make everyone think this was some landslide victory for JFK.

This place anymore is a tough read. Literally have to grimace and bear down just to get through certain posts and certain posters. I am not so confused as to why some who voted the way they did, but for the reasons they used to get there.

I will only name one person, and this post here will be my final one on the subject, so it will cover both ongoing current threads. I admit, I am a political junkie, with possibly too much passion, but last night, that was a special night in America, for America.

How could anyone, even an ardent McCain supporter, not be inspired by what was seen in Grant Park, Illinois, or more importantly, what was said there? A black man, running the gauntlet, defying the longest of all odds, has fought through what none of us here, nor hundreds of millions of Americans could never hope to do, has now breathed an optimum ingredient into this nation. One cannot put a price on Hope. Barack Obama has given America hope and the World has taken notice. As he said last night, America is indeed the last beacon of light, of destiny, but lately, Her own citizens have lost their way in the darkness. You want destiny? Barack Obama is the messenger of destiny and America today is a better place not only for itself, but for the rest of the world. Put away your disdain for Obama's policies, his associations, and his skin color. Try at least to embrace, to give a fair chance to a man who is a pretty tough customer, and a definite brave soul, to accomplish what he has. I am without a doubt, the most outspoken member, or ex-member on this board, particularly towards George W Bush, I trashed him pretty hard and a lot of the time, but, and I reiterate, but, only after I gave him a fair chance to govern. Yes, after the 2000 election, I was pissed, scorned and irate, but I respected the office of President and backed Bush in whatever areas he encountered. Especially after 9/11, I like 95% of the rest of the country, supported him and his poll numbers reflected that. His speech at the State of the Union address, as someone mentioned earlier, was in my opinion, the tip of the iceberg, of what was to come. Mentioning the "Axis of Evil" could be the worst written speech in political history. After that speech, as we all know, the declination of his presidency had begun. My point is, some here have made some comments not 45 minutes after Obama's election win, with the likes of, "what a sad day in America," and "welcome to the "USSA." My point is that is complete bullshit, to not even give the man a chance, a simple chance. He fucks up, by all means fill the bastard with gunshot, but as Stuart from Pittsburgh said, embrace the guy, as he deserves the chance to lead. He has earned the chance, a fair chance, to lead the greatest nation on Earth, and to restore it to it's formal standing, as a leader in all areas of global politics. To hang Obama right out of the gate is just simply wrong, and I wished the comments weren't made, but I understand being on the losing end and the fact emotion drives the fingers which type. I wasn't grandstanding, judging or condescending, I am just saying that a man who has defied the longest odds, who has accomplished something I never thought I would ever see in my lifetime, deserves our support, not necessarily our respect, yet anyways, but support, as he like Stu mentioned, is our president. Now, if Obama were to fall to the depths of Bush 43, then this post will look rather stupid, but the sentiments will be the same.

America did something last night that could possibly transcend itself to new and more greater heights, that none of us have ever experienced. Why rain on Her parade, especially when it hasn't really begun yet?

As for Stuart, your comments mirror your character and that is it shows your true honest self. You stated what I tried to a few days back, but apparently mine fell on deaf ears. I knew you would be inspired last night Stu, I just knew.

Oh, and hearing The Rising being played to over a million folks live is never a bad thing. That made me emotional. Well, Obama did too. 8)

Jesus, Tito you seem to have a problem with everyone, so if you don't like the people here, go find a country with no catholics, no mexicans, no gays, no one that's any different from you... better yet, buy an island and live alone, you'll be much happier. And please don't take your computer with you.
