to be released later today...this is surprising considering the boston boys(enigma) claims about our cupcake schedule. You'd think with such a patsy schedule we played no way we'd get this type of ranking in the BCS, huh enigma?????? Guess hes just sore that the Dolphins have owned NE this year and the Rays punked the red sox asses.....

Penn State's got as much claim to the 2 spot as ANYbody now.
And Utah if not Boise should be ahead of ALL the other bastards.

You really are a fucking idiot. A couple of points here, fanboy. First and foremost, I really don't care about college football, for the 100th time. It's not even a real fucking sport. I could care less what the fucking computers say about where your pussy school ranks. You're the only one on this board bragging about your team potentially ranking 3rd. Big fucking deal! Just one more reason you Florida fans are fucking clueless. Ranking third wins you nothing, moron! I could care less if Florida wins the Computer Chamionship. Again, it means absolutely nothing. As for your Dolphins comment, I wasn't aware that you were now claiming them as your own. As for your comment about the Dolphins having "owned" the Patriots, get back to me when the Patriots have a real QB playing for them and not some guy who didn't even play college football!

John, the Dolphins have Chad Pennington. Do you really think hes an upgrade from what NE has??? Yeah, Im a Dolphin when I keep up with the NFL becuase I am originally from Miami, born and raised. And let me tell you why being ranked 3rd means something right now-Florida plays #1 in 2 weeks. Beat FSU this saturday and guess what happens if we beat #1? A trip to Miami is ours....part of that "Computer Championship" is votes from humans also.....

He is absolutely an updgrade. You conveniently forget to mention that Chad Pennington has been a starting NFL QB for many years and Matt Cassel never got on the field during his entire college career. There is simply no comparison. Also, Pennington stepped in to be the starter for a team who lost 15 games last season, while Cassel was forced to step in on a team who didn't lose a single game during the regular season last year. Again, no comparison.

ScarabGator wrote:Yeah, Im a Dolphin when I keep up with the NFL becuase I am originally from Miami, born and raised.

Then why the hell are you in here bragging about the Tampa Ray Devil Dogs? Last I checked, Miami has their own baseball team. Why aren't you in here bragging about the pathetic Marlins? That's like someone rooting for the Bengals and Browns.

I pull for all the teams in Florida. Not just the ones who win like you do up there. Anytime ANY Florida team plays they have my support, I dont care who they are. Yeah, Pennington is a MAJOR stud....

I support all Florida teams no matter what, except Florida State, who I really hate.

In fairness, Pennington is a decent, experienced vet and he has been a key ingredient in the Dolphin's turn-around this year.

But, college football isn't a real sport, John? Come on. On what basis? Most NFL players do play college football before they come to the league, so I'm not sure what you're getting at. If you have a problem with the BCS system, join the club. But that doesn't denigrate the entire game at the college level, not by a long shot.

I don't have enough time to cover everything that is wrong with college football. No sport that determines their "National Champion" based on the subjective opinion of humans will ever be a real sport, in my opinion. Their overtime system is beyond goofy, and allowing people and computers to decide who plays in the title game is offensive to most real sports fans. I can assure you that I'm not alone in this opinion. I played and coached football for over 20 years, and I haven't encountered many people who don't believe the way college football is presently structured isn't completely ridiculous!

Ehwmatt wrote:Most NFL players do play college football before they come to the league, so I'm not sure what you're getting at.

Right, and I'm not sure what you're getting at. As usual, your analogy is nonsensical. The players aren't the issue, and nowhere in my post did I say that I had a problem with the players in college football. I'm quite cognizant that most of the guys in the NFL have played college football. That said, the champion in the NFL is determined by players on the field, not some geeks with pocket protectors, playing with their laptops!

Ehwmatt wrote:If you have a problem with the BCS system, join the club. But that doesn't denigrate the entire game at the college level, not by a long shot.

That's your opinion. I don't agree. If college football continues to allow humans (who are not players) and computers determine who their champion will be, none of the other stuff matters. They need to lose their overtime system as well, along with the NFL!

Miami has a nice football team this year and have been a pleasant surprise. I'm extremely interested in seeing how New England is going to counter the "wildcat" formation they had so much trouble with the last time they played the Dolphins.

SJ...I hope that you took my advice and laid your dough down on the Patriots. I definitely do agree with you that the Dolphins have been very respectable this season. They have been far better than I thought they would be. That said, they're still not a playoff team and finishing .500 will be quite the accomplishment after last season's complete embarrassment.

I know in your world you're right and the rest of us are dopes, but shockingly enough, that's all your opinion too. The BCS system sucks, I'll be the first to admit that - as an Ohioan who doesn't like OSU and is tired of the Buckeye fanboys/girls, I would LOVE to see a playoff system. OSU doesn't get anywhere near those atrocious national championship games with one.

But, shitty title determination notwithstanding, college football has great athleticism, drama, excitement, atmosphere etc. that I (and I'd venture to say most fans) really embrace. I can't think of a single sport I watch just because I only care about who the national/world champ is eventually going to be. Shit, if I catch an exciting Mid-American Conference game on TV that's going down to the wire, that shit will have me on the edge of my seat.

If you're letting the crappy BCS title determination system keep you from watching great sport, then hey, more power to you I guess.

Bowl season is my favorite time of year, I'm a junkie and for better or worse devour every single one of them from the pre-NYD ones, which reward teams that have had good solid years, on through the BCS bowls.

For starters, why do receivers only need to get ONE foot in bounds? Their NFL counterparts need TWO.

Right, and if you brush up on your reading comprehension skills, you'll see that I actually used the phrase "In my opinion". I never claim that any thoughts that I express here are gospel. It's a message board, genius! It's all about opinions. I simply said that I didn't agree with yours.

Ehwmatt wrote: The BCS system sucks, I'll be the first to admit that

Well I applaud your one astute observation

Ehwmatt wrote: college football has great athleticism, drama, excitement, atmosphere etc. that I (and I'd venture to say most fans) really embrace.

I don't disagree with any of that. The problem for me is that the BCS renders the end result a complete joke. Anyone who can't (and I know you said that you do see it) see the problem with a system rewarding teams for beating another inferior team by 70 points has no right to call themselves a college football fan. That's not what the game should be about.

Ehwmatt wrote: If you're letting the crappy BCS title determination system keep you from watching great sport, then hey, more power to you I guess.

It's not just the BCS system. As I already pointed out, I think the overtime rule is beyond ridiculous. Also, aside from most of the top teams in college football, many games can be painful to watch (again, my opinion, in the event you think I'm speaking for the world). The talent in college is about 20 steps down from the NFL. It's sort of like watching single A baseball, as opposed to MLB. Some say it's the same game. I say it's a completely different game. There is a reason that only about 10% of college players are ever good enough to play in the NFL. Most QB's in college football can't throw the ball down the field to save their lives. Three yards and a cloud of dust has always been painful for me to watch. If that were my preference, I'd watch the shitty Ravens every week!

And like in the TT/OU game last night....once the player is out of bounds ti should not matter if the ball comes out. The rules are such a crock of shit.

Correct. You can catch it, control it, but if you fall out of bounds afterward and drop the ball it is not a catch. The rule is stupid because at the instant the player hits the ground out of bounds the play is over anyway so it shouldn't matter if he holds on to the ball or not...but in college it does matter.

Wow...that's shocking. I didn't even know about that rule. How the hell did they ever come up with this absurd rule? I think everyone needs to just admit that John(Enigma) is the smartest person on this board and his opinion-no Im sorry, his facts are the gospel. It doesnt matter what anyone else thinks unless John agrees with it its bullshit. No use to argue with him. College football sucks, nothing good about it-that about sum it up John????

I believe John predicted that New England "was done" and would win around 5 games when Brady went down. He also said that Cassel sucks. Dude has back to back 400 yard games and is turning into a pretty darn solid QB.
