I like the attitude....you're drinking, huh?Jeremey wrote:And to underscore any fucking question that I may be one of the best informed sources on this board, I challenge you to find anyone in Perry or the Journey camp to deny that statement.

Well no shit, but that goes along with the idea that someone should have held on to Microsoft stock from 1983.
Dude, you're in hot water with the bullhorns already because you sound like Perry...now you fuck up Cyndy's name????Jeremey wrote:Cyndi

Did Herbie ever steer them wrong when it came to money? Why go against the grain that time?

Hey - Don't get me wrong....Herbie was even more essential to Journey than Peter Grant was to Zep.

How is that funny? Herbie went to the threshold of sucking cock for these guys to get hit records....He was a business man all the way.

Agreed. Doesn't mean others didn't know that also.Jeremey wrote:Soto WAS still in Journey in Virginia, They just didn't know what the fuck they were going to do.

All I know was - And this may be info to Jeff - When Neal heard the demo of "Virginia Is A ****" or whatever the fuck it was, he didn't believe they could mov foreward as Journey.
SherriBerry wrote:The story of Journey is incredible - it has everything whether you are a fan of the band or not. It sounds like Andrew has access to some amazing contacts and sources of information - how about it Andrew? I'd buy the hardcover gift edition!
I'm just learning now two amazing pieces of information that I have never heard before, specifically about Herbie manouevering to take majority ownership. Funny, he always portrays himself as just a 'Berkeley Hippie' who did everything for the band out of pure love.![]()
Also, who on earth wrote a song for Journey called 'Virginia is a C***'?! I don't think even Eminem has written something like that - it would NOT go over well with the band's audience (well 99.9% anyway - there's no accounting for that tenth percentile!). Where in the hell would you put that song in Journey's lineup? A segue from 'Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin''?
Saint John wrote:Yeah, just we need...an 8 chapter book with you spending 7 of those chapters slobbering over Soto's cup of coffee with the band.Andrew wrote:Maybe I will...

Yeah. Herbie would have facinating stories that would be absolutely terrific. But he sure comes across as a loud, arrogant asshole in his interviews.

No disagreement there. Sometimes the most productive are the most beligerant because they push people.
But he sure comes across as a jerk! The whole time I was watching BEHIND THE MUSIC, I thought, "yeah, Perry doesn't come across as a great guy, but then again ... neither does Herbie". Especially when he started sneering like an ass with his rant about the "wasn't part of the band" comments. Everyone else came across relatively diplomatic given the contenious topic, but Herbie came across as a sneering asshole, IMO.
Every time I read his interviews, I keep thinking of someone chanting,
I'm the greatest
I'm the most
I'm so good
I don't have to boast
I have think that if he wrote an autobiography, it would have a closing line of, "I enjoyed writing this book as much as I know you enjoyed reading it"
Arianddu wrote:To be honest, I'd rather read HH's autobiography than a book he's written on Journey specifically, simply because I don't think he could write a book on Journey; it would be his life as the manager of Journey, not really about them, and if I'm going to read that kind of book, I'd rather know more about HH's entire career, pre-, during and post-Journey.

Imagine the opening paragraph of that.
"The lord decided that the earth required the perfect human ... one who stood truly greater than all men! And on February 5th, 1948, he delivered on that promise with an early Valentine's Day present.
His gift of love to you, was me ... Walter "Herbie" Herbert
During our time together, you'll learn how I single-handedly changed the world by virtue of my greatness ..."
