Gunbot wrote:Oscar wins even if he loses, I think he gets the majority of the purse regardless. Manny had to bulk up for this fight while Oscar had to slim down. When Vargas bulked up to fight Oscar, he got tired because of the extra weight and Oscar really bloodied him up before finally knocking him out. You never know, Oscar might not give his best effort considering his payout is going to big either way. The PPV market is hurting though so the money won't be as big as it normally is.
I think it has the makings of a classic if Pacquiao can make it through the first 5 rounds without incurring significant damage.wednesday's child wrote:Fuck this bullshit puke of a fight.
Nobody gives a shit about that fight. This is where the $$$ is at. Manny made the right call.wednesday's child wrote:Pac should be facing Nate Campbell for the other belts in his own division,
since Nate's free (Joan Guzman backed out of their match months ago).
Couldn't agree more...but Oscar knows he would get mauled by either of these guys.wednesday's child wrote:Oscar a pussy for not facing either Margarito or Williams after promising
them each a match earlier, .
De La Hoya will retire in shame if he loses this fight..and man, I hope he does. Pacquiao has nothing to lose and everything to gain, and I hope he comes down on De La Hoya like rice on beans. It would open the door for another monstrous payday.wednesday's child wrote:but the fucker wants to retire on a win, so
he picks a challenger THREE FUCKING WEIGHT CLASSES LIGHTER than
he is! Shit like this, is why boxing's a joke.
Hopefully, this is one of 2009's new words. It's my favorite, bar none.wednesday's child wrote:Pigfuckers....
Saint John wrote:This is a really hard fight to call. You never see such a height and reach variance at such a low weight (147 pounds). De La Hoya has about a 4 and a half inch height advantage and about a 6 inch reach advantage, both of which are unheard of in such a low weight class. Normally, you have one fighter going up or down in weight, but in this instance you have Pacquiao, the shorter fighter, going up in weight, and De La Hoya, the taller fighter, coming down in weight. I think the fight will ultimately be decided by who adjusts to the weight change better. Will De La Hoya get tired in the later rounds because of the weight loss, or will Pacquiao get tired in the late rounds because of the weight gain?
At face value both fighters appear to be in extremely good shape. Having watched every one of HBO's "De La Hoya/Pacquiao 24/7" episodes I can say that they have both trained their asses off. I see the fight being dictated early by De La Hoya. I see Oscar outclassing Pacquiao for many of the early rounds and possible even hurting him. However, if Pacquiao can weather the early storm, I see him coming back and being the stronger fighter toward the end of the fight. No one has less heart than De La Hoya and no one has more heart than Pacquiao. Remember, De La Hoya is the guy that quit a close fight because of a BODY punch from Bernard Hopkins. Pacquiao wouldn't quit if you broke both of his arms. I'm going with Pacquiao in a close decision...but man I hope he knocks that punk De La Hoya out.

Oscar doesn't have shoes on, he'll come in heavy tomorrow I bet.
ttango1 wrote:Has never beaten Pacquaio! Nacho's boy Marquez got a gift for that draw but still...that ain't a W.
Freddy Roach knows who DLH is and says that Oscar cannot be anything other than himself. In short, he lacks the discipline needed to fight the fight right.
We've all seen it happen to Oscar, I mean where the hell is Sugar Shane nowadays?
Pac for the win!

So again...speed kills. That is all.

it's just very, VERY unlikely to happen however much I might want it to.
It's set to be in about 750,000 households...nowhere near the 2 million that De La Hoya/Mayweather Jr. had.finalfight wrote:Gunbot wrote:The PPV market is hurting though so the money won't be as big as it normally is.
Apparently this is currently on target to break all records for a live sporting event on PPV - which I was very surprised to hear.
