Chuck Negron who used to sing for 3 Dog Night. He is the voice that opens Eli's coming. Another is Johnny Contardo that used to be in Shanana. He still tours and records and sounds exactly like the 70s'.

Bobby Kimball - 61

The jet black mustache dye may not succesfully fool anybody, but his still reverberating thundercrack voice is doing its personal best to flip off Father Time.

I was willing to take a look at this and be pleasantly surprised, but, no, as expected, still sucks.
He is wavering all over the place.
Do you not hear that?
Anyone who witnessed his curtain-closing 2006 American Idol performance or witnessed any one of his lip synched promotional spots for Bat 3 knows exactly what to expect.

Bat 3 is a great album, but Meatloaf is toast.

I believe he was really sick with a throat/ear problem on this tour. Jury's still out for me. If you look on YouTube at enough Toto vids, you can see Kimball sucking ass here and there too. But I do agree with you, this performance is terrible.

Bat 3 was a damn good album, I really loved 5 or 6 of the tracks off of there, especially "What About Love."

Kimball's problems are nothing like Meatloafs'.
That YouTube clip is pretty much the quality-level Meatloaf has maintained since 2006.
Meanwhile Bobby is out there sounding nearly as strong as the IV record (the occasional pitch issue and Africa playback notwithstanding).

Yeh, it might amount to Meatloaf heresy, but I really found Desmond Child's more commerical touch a nice pace-changer from Steinman's broadway monotony.
The contributions from both songwriters helped to make it a more diverse Bat record.

Both Meatlloaf and Bruce Dickinson totally suck ass live these days. Neither of them seem able to consistantly sing on key anymore.

Dennis De Young & John Farnham still sound great and given his health problems it was surprising to find that Lou Gramm is getting more toward a return to form as time goes on.

I put the age they were at the time of the performance.

Farnham rocks too, just don't know much of his work outside his LRB tenure.

If you have the time, 90% of Farnham's "Farewell Tour" DVD in 2003 is on Youtube. Click here... http://www.youtube.com/results?search_q ... type=&aq=f You'll also get the John Farnham stand-up comedy hour--he jokes around a lot between songs.

6 song acoustic set (opening song A Simple Life not online), then a 14 song electric set, and a short behind-the-scenes featurette. The electric set starts with part 8. That's about as good of an overview of his solo career as you are going to find.

Also, key in "John Farnham Jack of Hearts" for a tv special from a 1996 tour for another concert. Supposedly, never to be released on dvd due to occasional off-notes by the backing singers due to malfunctioning monitors--but there is some REALLY good stuff here also.

My mother played TJ records all the time I was growing up and she would go crazy over him. A few years ago, I was able to take her to a charity performance he did here. Small arena, intimate setting in the round with a rotating stage. I'll have to say, I only went to take my mom, but I ended up really enjoying myself. He still has a very strong, sexy voice and I love to hear him talking between songs! I went to show my mom how to look up his old stuff on youtube and came across this:

LOL, did we have the same mother?! Although she didn't go crazy over him that I recall, she sure played his records alot, I think I probably still know all the words to What's New Pussycat or It's Not Unusual.

Al Stewart is great. I saw him a couple years ago in a very tiny bar. Just him, Dave Nachmanoff, and two acoustic guitars. Great stuff.

I'm shocked to see a shout-out for him on this board.

Glenn Hughes- 57 and still amazing. Even though tuned down a half step these days. That's acceptable for the crazy stuff he sings. (and he is 57- one time his bio got out and it said he was born in 52 and he never bothered to correct it- who doesn't want to be younger?)

Here he is earlier this year. Better than I expected, but he's either burnt to a crisp or as someone posted earlier, he's had a stroke or something.
