Are you seriously saying you would approve of someone being killed for throwing a shoe!?

Seriously?????

I mean, I wouldn't even joke about that!

I knew he was joking, and being extreme to prove a point.

What I was agreeing with is that finally an American is outraged at the way OUR President was disrespected. As all Americans should be outraged.

Fair enough, but I can't agree with you that it's something worth being outraged about. I save my outrage for things like the detainment and torture of Australian citizens by a nation that is supposedly our ally, and my country's former government refusing to demand their release to Australia, as the British did in the same circumstances, because they wanted to secure a trade deal (in which Australia got fucked anyway.)

If someone threw a shoe at my Prime Minister (who I support) I'd laugh and say 'good for them for expressing an opinion. And good for Rudd in accepting graciously that not everyone agrees with him.' Which, to give Shrubbie his due, he seemed to do.

Perhaps 'outrage' was too strong of a word. I just don't understand Americans that applauded the behavior. I think it's terrible. I don't care who the person is. And I would be ashamed if an American reporter did something like that to a world leader of another country.

And I'd be saying 'the idiot has a right to express his opinions. And a right to look like a total twat whilst doing it.'

Funny how 'freedom of speech' doesn't seem to be quite so vaunted when it's not an American doing it (and that's not aimed just at you, btw)

Sure, the idiot has a right to express his opinion, just as LA has a right to be outraged by that opinion.....but
I'm pretty sure freedom of speech should not inflict injury, regardless of the severity. Let me check that, though

No need to check it, you're correct. Freedom of Speech is limited. It cannot infringe on another persons rights.

I don't care where you're from. Freedom of speech doesn't extend to throwing objects. That's got nothing to do with speech or opinion, that's violence.

Point taken, you are quite right.
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

Clinton's military seemed to do a record-setting job of toppling Saddam.
Or were those inherited arsenals and predator drones quickly whipped up under Bush's watch?
And let's not forget, Clinton's military strikes in Afghanistan to target Osama were derided by many a Conservative (and liberal) as a textbook case of wagging-the-dog.
And it probably was, but it was a sleight of hand rooted in grave geopolitical consequence.

I am not upset with you at all. Just asking you not to blanket all Americans as YOU Americans. Seeing that you don't actually feel that way makes it much clearer. I seemed to in the course of letting you know this, garner the attention of some very strongly oppinionated individuals. All I was saying is I get tired of the You Americans, or the You Brits, you get the picture I am sure. I was not having a problem with your disagreeing with the shoe thrower being harmed. In fact I feel we are on the same page. As I said, that was the voice of one individual, not the voice of America. In the process of scolding the one, you blanketed the whole. That was and is my point. I am glad to see on this we understand each other. Have a great Christmas! :D

It was never my intention to blanket all Americans as YOU Americans, just those individuals who really should have more sense, and not make such crass comments. There are some things that shouldn't be joked about. I'm sure that if I were to make jokes about 9/11 you would be offended, and rightly so. It goes both ways. As you say, we are on the same page. It really is refreshing to communicate with someone with as much sense as yourself. You have a good Christmas too.

No, the asshole that threw the shoe. I hope he gets executed.

Has anyone told you that you're a charmer? If so, they lied!

You Americans certainly have a way of endearing yourself to the rest of humanity. It's a mystery to me why anyone would want to throw a shoe at GWB.

This is why I have a problem with many Americans; not all, certainly, but many. People who behave as though 'The West' means 'America' - the same people who claim it's the best country in the world without any sense of irony, the same people who proclaim that US-style democracy is the way the world should go, the same people who seem to have very little understanding that the majority of the rest of the people of the world do not think like Americans, do not live like Americans, and do not want to be like Americans. The way the USA does things is not the best way; I can't see how it can be the best way for the the USA (but then, I don't live there and I am biased), and it certainly isn't the best way for the rest of the world.

I totally agree with you.

What is it with Americans and their worship of money? I'll have you know that not all of us are needy or greedy. Maybe if you cared to examine Americas foreign policies you would soon realise that many of the countries in need are so because of a situation that you yourselves have created.

Besides, considering the mess your financial institutions are in, I'd keep quiet about hand outs if I were you. In a country so frightened of communism it is the supreme irony that the public have had to bail out the banks. How embarrassing.

You should keep quiet too, wherever the fuck you're from. Sure America's financial institutions are in trouble, but if we ever wanted to call you out on your debt or anyone else's, for that matter, and say "fuck you" you would be history. Sure we owe trillion+ on our own debt, but the world owes us collectively 10 trillion. Sure you want to play that card? Didn't think so, so go back to your mud hut, or straw castle, and start up the oven, I mean campfire, and cook your rice or squirrel or poisonous snake, and shut the fuck up already. Sure wouldn't want an Tomahawk missle to get loose and accidentally find your sorry assed excuse for a country.

Sorry to break it to you but it isn't the Americans that are worshipping money in this case but nice job attempting to twist the argument around. It's a fact that America spends way more money throughout the world than anyone else to help people than anyone else does and then other countries whine and complain when we don't give more. The U.N. is a good example of this. We pay the lion's share of that corrupt organization's budget and the other member nations want us to pony up more.

As far as foreign policy goes, most nations that find themselves in a pickle find themselves so because of their own stupidity, neglect, or corruption. That's not to say that we don't mess up but we don't screw up any more than any other nation does.

Dude, I was actually defending you ealier until you had to get all cocky and run your third world piehole. The fact is exactly like Conversationpc said. America is not without it's faults, but without America, life would get awful lonely and boring when all you have to eat is wheat grass you filthy fucking cocksucker!

For your information a teepee is a conical tent as used by the Native Americans of the Great Plains. I doubt you even know what the third world is. You really should think before responding. As for the insult, really classy. Your mother would be proud of you.

I know what a teepee is asshole. Aside from the Native Americans using them, they have also been known to be used as traffic cones for the driving test of the Jolly Green Giant and Paul Bunyan.

Dude, you still haven't told us where you are from. I am dying to know.

PS- I hate my mom, so go fuck yourself.

Can we get a hint. Is Lassie on the barbie a culinary delight from where ever this person calls home?

So take your Union Jack underpants, take them off your weekly bathed body, stick them in your mouth and go give the fucking Pope a rim job, you asshole.

You really do have a over inflated opinion of your country. If only your mind was as big as your ass. You are just better at exploitation, and that isn't a great boast. You country offers more safety? Are you not aware of your level of gun crime? Union Jack underpants? If you are attempting to suggest that I am British your education is somewhat lacking. The Union Jack is a naval flag, flown by the Royal Navy. You obviously meant to say Union flag, a completely different flag, but as you are American I forgive your ignorance. Infact I'm getting used to it.

Hero Drop the "American" crap. It is not why you are upset with individual comments on the board. As I said, one American does not speak for the whole. But you are quickly annoying me!    Can you not agree with people without labeling them all the same? Geez get over your predjudices already! :? :?

Ah, the time honoured threat of violence. Hell, why not. There can't be many places you haven't bombed.

Why don't you just say where you are from. Are you ashamed? You find it easy to talk shit about America but you appear to be afraid when it comes to bringing your own homeland under Scrutiny.
