I did. We just differ. I go to a concert to hear incredible vocals and really couldn't care less about stage presence, and you obviously go to see incredible stage presence and couldn't care less about incredible vocals. That's the equivalent of picking Barnum and Bailey over Phantom Of The Opera when it comes to the fine arts.

Wrong. All three of my faves have great voices and can emote like nobody's business. But I guess you didn't understand the question, he wasn't asking who had the most incredible vocals, he was asking about showmanship/stage presence ya friggin boogernugget!
And I'm proposing that Perry's ability to sing in a way that had the emotions of the listener in the palm of his hand trumps the one-hit and no-hit artists you've named. I think in this case, beyond any shadow of a doubt, the proof is in the numbers. 2 of your 3 "emoters" don't have the stage presence to even tour the bar circuit domestically. Kind of puts your over-the-top emphasis on stage presence in perspective, wouldn't you say?

Exactly, a perfect example of delivering a song with such passion that the singer is visibly spent by the end of the song (this one reminds me a little of Mother Father)........you know they've given 110% = emoting! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0swL7jihXd4

But once again, that wasn't the question. I don't like like Springsteen or Jagger's voices on that list, but there's no denying they are great "frontmen". And believe me, I'm all about the vocals/emoting. There is just something special that r&b/soul influenced rock singers bring to the table.

But whatever, lets just quit this dance now, neither one is going to budge on this.

Even though I'm not a big Plant fan it's hard to argue with your top 4. Good all-around list. But you should have thrown Springsteen in there as to not incur the wrath of Deano. But I think in this case that your avatar will probably prompt "chest requests" rather than scorn.

I'm not much of a Plant fan either, but, the guy could flat out sing his ass off. I also think Freddie Mercury belongs at or near the top of EVERY list when talking about "showman". Hell, I'm not sure there has EVER been a bigger "showman" than Mercury, and he was a SUPERB studio singer. Live seemed to be much more hit or miss with the guy.

As impossible as it seems, I think Mercury's voice was even better after he started getting really ill with AIDS, at least on the "Innuendo" album. There are some incredible vocals on that album.

In no order at all...

Mercury
Paul Rodgers
Steve Perry
Burton Cummings
Bruce - (don't get too happy Dean... I think his live show is very overrated in general...)
Todd Rundgren (trust me)
David Bowie
Eddie Money (not bombastic or dramatic, just a great stage personality and plenty of energy)
Lour Gramm
Robert Plant
Joe Walsh
Roger Daltrey
Michael Jackson

Must have a powerful, unique rock voice and stage presence.

In no particular order:

Mick Jagger
Roger Daltry
Bruce Springsteen (not a huge fan, but deserves to be included)
Michael Hutchence - INXS
Bono
Steven Tyler
Jim Morrison
Robert Plant
David Lee Roth

I cannot put Steve Perry in this category. Great Singer, but not a great showman.

And Bono, Robert Plant, or Roger Daltry are?

Hahahahahaha!

Hohohohohoho!

Merry Christmas! Thanks for the holiday cheer. I needed a good laugh.

I may not like all of their voices but that's a pretty good list, when it comes to stage presence. Hutch was pretty underrated when it came to big name frontmen, but gawd was he mesmerizing to watch perform. What a loss. :(

I may be risking my life and reputation here, but Robbie Williams puts on a great show, (slinks back into igloo).
