Jason Kelty is pretty much what everyone thought he was...a fantastic singer and a seemingly even better human being. Everyone in the band seemed like really cool guys. I spoke briefly with Jason and his "speaking" voice is almost identical to Perry's from the 80's. When I told him that we came down from Chicago to see the band he looked at me like I was fucking nuts.

On to the show...they played 7 or 8 Journey songs. The sound was very good, but not great. I thought Jason's voice had a bit too much delay on it and gave it sort of an "echo" sound. It was either that or a lot of reverb. At any rate, you could hear a great voice nonetheless and he nailed every song. One thing I never seemed to see him do was really "let it go." His singing is effortless and very under control. It's obvious that the Perry-sung songs are very much in his natural range. I also thought he was a bit low in the mix and if I remember correctly the band asked for his mic to be turned up once or twice. The highlight of the night for me was Runaway by Bon Jovi. Eclipse just nailed that one and Jason's vox at the end of the song were off the chain. I saw a few jaws drop on that one! The Journey songs were all solid and the band has several good voices...Paul the bassists being one of them. He did particularly well on a Who cover.
My friend taped a good portion of the show and I hope to have some audio and/or video up sometime this week. The show was great, the venue was cool, the guys in the band were all extremely nice as were their significant others. I believe Paul said that they had only done a few shows together. Regardless, they were pretty tight and if they get any better they'll really be something to see!!! I highly recommend seeing these guys. Their music is great and they sing all of the big melodic hits of the 80's. Gonna try and get that audio/video up soon!!!
