But the meeting didn't go so well...I understand more about the man now, from people who are still in contact with him.

I hope I get a chance to meet him again and shake the mans hand in friendship and aprreciation.

After what he did for friends of mine on here, I finally let go of all the anger I had and hope to hear him do something with music again.

I'm sorry, you're not done here. There will need to be some elaboration. Lots of it. :D :D

ehh...go search...the whole story is on here somewhere. I don't want to rehash it again...and get the countless (and pointless) PM's about it.

Steve Perry is a class act as a person as far as I am concerned. And that's all I have to say about that...

I searched and found the story - I'm not sure what he was going through at the time, but I can't understand
why he would be so harsh to a 10 year old fan. That you wish him well and have such nice things to say
about him shows you're quite a class act as a person too!

I never had the chance to meet Steve Perry :(
but thanks to the internet there are bloggers out there who have, and I can live vicariously, can't I?

This was posted in July of 2008:

"And just had to say it here because I never meet celebrities. I work at Disneyland and usually only see them while I'm working and cannot talk to them while I'm working. But today I went with friends to get on Peter Pan and we went through the exit because I was in a wheelchair (still healing from ankle surgery) and we saw Steve Perry with a guide and his family. He commented on my toes in my ankle brace calling them M&Ms toes (they're all different colors) and he was really funny. We asked the guide while he was on the ride if we could get autographs. She said ok if we didn't take pictures. We said sure no problem and so with many apologies and thank yous we got autographs (I had my shoe signed and thus need new shoes now). He has dubbed me "M&Ms girl" and said it was cool I broke my foot playing soccer. He seems like the coolest guy to sit down and have coffee with. I felt bad asking for an autograph but I've loved Journey since I was born and he's freakin Steve Perry, I spent many nights falling asleep to his voice.

PS if you don't know who Steve Perry is I am sad for you"

There's another cool story by a blogger on the East Coast who wrote about Steve coming into her 80's retro shop and buying bunches of Journey t-shirts, and coming back to chat....Cute story. I can't find it at the moment, but I'm looking......
Perry “did not have a voice, he had a miracle”

Stu got to meet Perry when he was a little kid and Perry turned around and looked at him and said "And what the fuck do you want?!" Stu cried like a little bitch and didn't like Perry til part of the PR team cornered him in South Bend. The story is something along those lines. Funny thing is this...I used to kid Stu and say he probably deserved it and he'd get all bent out of shape. Now he bows at the altar of he who has nasal passages the size of The Holland Tunnel.  But don't get me wrong, I have no doubt that Perry is probably, at the very minimum, a very decent human being.

I was fortunate enough to meet Steve at a Dodger game here in Los Angeles. I sat about 50 yards away from him and towards the end of the game I introduced myself, expressed my appreciation and told him how long I've ben a fan. He was extremely nice....warm and genuine. He even asked me when my first concert was. When I told him it was when the opened for ELO during the Infinity album, he about flipped. He then asked what was it like from a fans perspective....at that time I realized how surreal this was while I was explaining what it was like....as they took the stage just before ELO, Neil hit this power chord, and Steve held this high note in a way I've never heard before... every single person in the stadium (90,000) was blown away from the get-go.

The one thing I forgot to do was take a picture. My brain wasn't thinking at all. My wife still thinks I have a man-crush. LOL

What a great story :) . He must have enjoyed talking with you.

P.S. Did the power chord have something to do with SP holding the high note??
