president obama said it in his address this morning- we have to work, each one of us are responsible for restoring the nation and can not expect the government to do it for us.

i truly believe we have a man in office that will inspire many more americans to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and work to improve their lives. At the same time he seems to be compassionate and understands some need help in getting those bootstraps. i voted for barack obama and i am feeling very good today. i am not one that lives with her head in the clouds and will absolutely hold this president, as i have others before him, accountable for his actions. for today i will float on the historical and monumental actions that i have witnessed.

He thinks government is the solution. That is the main problem. Listen to his speech. Government this...Government that. Government isn't the solution, it's the problem.

If we are still having economic problems later this year, since libs held Bush responsible for the economic problems after he first took office, I want to see those same libs hold Obama accountable for this one.

This entire Inauguration, which is still going, is inspiring and flat out awesome to watch. For you jerkoffs who are bitter, let me use your own words against you: Get over it.

The most beautiful picture/video I have seen in a long time was Executive 1 flying out of the City.

Good luck to Barack, BUT...

Four days and 150M taxpayer dollars for an inauguration??? Are we kidding??? I wonder if the President-elect understands that we are in a recession and that 150M might be better spent on struggling taxpayers instead of Springsteen/U2 concerts. Just my opinion...

i disagree dave. in many of obama's speeches he has pointed out the need for the individual to work and not rely on the government to provide everything. he does point out the need to have an effective government and that is where politics come into play and we will be labeled as conservatives, liberals, etc and disagree. he has never made it seem as though government is the solution to all problems.

Get your facts straight. U2 and Springsteen, along with every other entertainer performed for free. The costs associated are due to security, ballroom rentals and hotel beds associated with the biggest event to ever occur in Washington DC. 150 Million is pocket change to what the event entails. Your country is on stage showing itself to the rest of the world. You prefer it be non televised, no video monitors, no crowd interaction, no celebration? The majority of the Country are ecstatic. The Country is experiencing a euphoria for the first time in at least a decade. 150 million? That's approximately 10 hours worth of "war buy" in Iraq. And yes, I did the math.

I'm proud to say I voted for President Obama. Though I wasn't able to view the events today, I listened to them and was moved. It is indeed a historic day for America-

Well let's see here Dave. Government, the all forever entity that you Neo Cons refer to as evil, created this mess we are in. Government created the Fake War. Government created this complete whack job mentality of tax cuts during war, tax cuts for the wealthy and rebate checks, thus resulting in the closures of business almost every day. Government, in the form of a now ex president, created this. Now you Cons want private industry and commerce all by themselves to dig out of this colossal hole? The only entity that can save us now is the Federal Government. Obama hasn't a choice but to utilize the sheer size and power of the government to help us all out and rerail the train. $825B will go a long way to help that cause, taxes be damned. Get ready to pony up, because it's time to pay for the last eight years of Bush.

Sorry Deano...Whether it's McCain or Obama, I don't see the need for such pomp at OUR expense. A tuned-down version of this would be appropriate during these times. Doesn't make me any lesser of a true American in saying so either.

He did say...

Barack Obama wrote:Only government can break the vicious cycles that are crippling our economy – where a lack of spending leads to lost jobs which leads to even less spending; where an inability to lend and borrow stops growth and leads to even less credit.

I can't disagree more with this statement. Government was one of the main problems that got us into this mess to begin with.

the wrong government got us in this mess, maybe we have the right one in place to get us out ;)

Exactly. Bush was more focused on wanting to control the Middle East than he was on making America greater. Barack seems to have the proper perspective, and that's why I supported him financially from the day he came to my hometown (Springfield, Illinois) to announce his candidacy. I weathered 10 degree temperatures to hear him give a speech that day. I was surrounded by thousands of people all huddled together... white, black, hispanic, asian, etc., and the mood was ecstatic. I felt hope for our country for the first time in years.

I even got an invitation to his inauguration in the mail a few weeks ago... from the fricking President!

No president is worth this type of pomp and circumstance. Don't come to us saying that you'll be a change agent, and then raise nearly $200 million for your little party from foreign interests, lobbyist groups, etc. Especially given what is going on with this country. No one will ever convince me that this is a good use of time and/or money.

Heed your own advice. Also, I see that Bush got booed during his entrance. So, the people who say lets come togther and support this guy, boo the opposition. Great example they set. Again don't get me wrong, Bush blows donkey dick but lets be consistent (like me, I would boo both).

Fuck you Tom. I didn't see Obama or any of his cabinet booing. I would never boo a president publicly and I too thought it was classless as was the na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye chant by 2 million people. While no excuse, it's fair to say these same people were pissed and shit on the last eight years. They had to let it out, but I do agree with you, that was in bad taste. I have even taken my anger away from Bush and put it more squarely on that evil sonofabitch Dick Cheney. In a wheelchair, lol. Yeah, ok dude. You wanted us to believe the lies to go to war, and we did. Now you want us to believe you personally were moving boxes? LOL, what an asshole!

When Obama said the part about choosing hope over fear in his inauguration speech, how many of you started hearing Journey's song "Frontiers" playing in their head?

Pretty fucking classless.

I can't stand his politics, but to take enjoyment from a persons tragedy or pain in just sick.

I would hope conservative minded people wouldn't indulge in tit-for-tat and show such dispicable behavior as the liberals did for 8 years.

President Bush showed class when he made sure none of his staffers did what Clinton's staffers did in 2000.

You and Fact Finder should show the same attitude. Sinking to the level of those whose behavior you dispise doesn't bring them up, it only brings you down.

We are from the same side of the fence ideologically, and I agree completely... been thinking the same thing since the election. I'm actually glad he won over McCain. We did need something different. And I've been pleasantly surprised that he's showing signs of being much more centrist than the flaming liberal everyone made him out to be. I'll take my tax cut anytime, Sir.

Dude, let me assure you, I will never sink to level of the people I "dispise" (hint: I don't despise anyone), they are the ones who treated this man like dirt for the last 6 years. May they reap what they have sowed. Now they want to talk all lovey dovey and shit. I ain't buying into their bullshit and I suspect neither are you. Now as of tomorrow, I expect you to get off of that fence lest you get a splinter in your nuts. Pick a fucking side and stick to it. I am an American and I wish Mr. Obama nothing but success for the better of our Country, but the gall of some of these people spewing their "past" hatred has left a taste that 6 shots of Jack will not kill. I am a conservative at heart and I shall fight for my principles here as long as Andrew allows.

And yes, Tito, wishing ill on ANYONE is in bad taste, period. Case closed. Osama Bin Laden and his lunatic friends et al.. excepted.

And a BIG FUCK YOU to you as well.

The hatred, yep, I threw a bunch of it at Bush, was deserved. He stole an election, I hated that. I still supported the man through thick and thin until it just became too much corruption and too much lying. I would say I supported that slimy lying pile of shit for two years. You on the other hand waited at least 2 minutes to blast the new president. Take your failed conservatism and shove it straight up your ass.

He didn't steal an election Dean and you KNOW IT...every conceivable type of count was tried, including the one Al Gore want to use, by independent organizations and they showed Bush legitimately won.

As for failed conservatism, Bush was FAR FAR FAR from a conservative. The people calling themselves conservatives, may have fail at BEING conservative, but that isn't a fault of the philosophy, it is a failure of the people purporting to be conservative.

And yes you spouted off (and still do) with a ton of hatred...when you don't even know what is really lies and what isn't. None of us do. We are only allowed to see a certain amount because the rest is classified and only the upper levels of our government really know and even then not all of them.

I would suggest to you that if you want your side to be treated with respect that you at least shut up about Bush for 5 minutes.

I will give the President the benefit of the doubt for now, and UNLIKE you or other liberals I will never spew the rancid, vile, and hateful things about the President that you did about President Bush NO MATTER what President Obama does or doesn't do.

Not this guy. I'll hate him just as I hate the other 99.9% of politicans. Everyone is equal in my eyes.
