It means the unprecedented recession we have been in is still taking its toll on the markets.

president obama said it in his address this morning- we have to work, each one of us are responsible for restoring the nation and can not expect the government to do it for us.
i truly believe we have a man in office that will inspire many more americans to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and work to improve their lives. At the same time he seems to be compassionate and understands some need help in getting those bootstraps. i voted for barack obama and i am feeling very good today. i am not one that lives with her head in the clouds and will absolutely hold this president, as i have others before him, accountable for his actions. for today i will float on the historical and monumental actions that i have witnessed.

He thinks government is the solution. That is the main problem. Listen to his speech. Government this...Government that. Government isn't the solution, it's the problem.

Four days and 150M taxpayer dollars for an inauguration??? Are we kidding??? I wonder if the President-elect understands that we are in a recession and that 150M might be better spent on struggling taxpayers instead of Springsteen/U2 concerts. Just my opinion...

Get your facts straight. U2 and Springsteen, along with every other entertainer performed for free. The costs associated are due to security, ballroom rentals and hotel beds associated with the biggest event to ever occur in Washington DC. 150 Million is pocket change to what the event entails. Your country is on stage showing itself to the rest of the world. You prefer it be non televised, no video monitors, no crowd interaction, no celebration? The majority of the Country are ecstatic. The Country is experiencing a euphoria for the first time in at least a decade. 150 million? That's approximately 10 hours worth of "war buy" in Iraq. And yes, I did the math.
Lula wrote:i disagree dave. in many of obama's speeches he has pointed out the need for the individual to work and not rely on the government to provide everything. he does point out the need to have an effective government and that is where politics come into play and we will be labeled as conservatives, liberals, etc and disagree. he has never made it seem as though government is the solution to all problems.
Barack Obama wrote:Only government can break the vicious cycles that are crippling our economy – where a lack of spending leads to lost jobs which leads to even less spending; where an inability to lend and borrow stops growth and leads to even less credit.
Rockindeano wrote:Well let's see here Dave. Government, the all forever entity that you Neo Cons refer to as evil, created this mess we are in. Government created the Fake War. Government created this complete whack job mentality of tax cuts during war, tax cuts for the wealthy and rebate checks, thus resulting in the closures of business almost every day. Government, in the form of a now ex president, created this. Now you Cons want private industry and commerce all by themselves to dig out of this colossal hole? The only entity that can save us now is the Federal Government. Obama hasn't a choice but to utilize the sheer size and power of the government to help us all out and rerail the train. $825B will go a long way to help that cause, taxes be damned. Get ready to pony up, because it's time to pay for the last eight years of Bush.

And this changes what I said how? I never said government didn't cause the problem. Everything you just said above is making my point.

I can't disagree more with this statement. Government was one of the main problems that got us into this mess to begin with.

I think it's ridicolous. Reagan did his second innagural inside (because of the weather) and I don't think anyone thinks less of his presidency because of it.

The most beautiful picture/video I have seen in a long time was Executive 1 flying out of the City.

Heed your own advice. Also, I see that Bush got booed during his entrance. So, the people who say lets come togther and support this guy, boo the opposition. Great example they set. Again don't get me wrong, Bush blows donkey dick but lets be consistent (like me, I would boo both).

I believe the election of Barrack Obama is a defining point for our country, not because of his policies and agenda, but because of what it truly represents: There is no barrier, obstacle or challenge that we as a nation cannot overcome.
God Bless you Mister President, may you guide us well and true and live up to the promise of you convictions and achieve much.

Dude, let me assure you, I will never sink to level of the people I "dispise" (hint: I don't despise anyone), they are the ones who treated this man like dirt for the last 6 years. May they reap what they have sowed. Now they want to talk all lovey dovey and shit. I ain't buying into their bullshit and I suspect neither are you. Now as of tomorrow, I expect you to get off of that fence lest you get a splinter in your nuts. Pick a fucking side and stick to it. I am an American and I wish Mr. Obama nothing but success for the better of our Country, but the gall of some of these people spewing their "past" hatred has left a taste that 6 shots of Jack will not kill. I am a conservative at heart and I shall fight for my principles here as long as Andrew allows.
And yes, Tito, wishing ill on ANYONE is in bad taste, period. Case closed. Osama Bin Laden and his lunatic friends et al.. excepted.

And a BIG FUCK YOU to you as well.
The hatred, yep, I threw a bunch of it at Bush, was deserved. He stole an election, I hated that. I still supported the man through thick and thin until it just became too much corruption and too much lying. I would say I supported that slimy lying pile of shit for two years. You on the other hand waited at least 2 minutes to blast the new president. Take your failed conservatism and shove it straight up your ass.
He will do a good job Tito. Im so glad the old fart and hillbilly Sarah lost and my man one. Make and sandwich, get a glass of milk and watch the inaguaration with me numb nuts. I told you he was goin to win.Tito wrote:RossValoryRocks wrote:brywool wrote:RossValoryRocks wrote:As most of you know I am a conservative independent, and did not vote for the President, never the less, I pray for him to be successful, and safe.

WHO THE HELL IS THIS AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH ROSSVALORYROCKS???
LOL Regardless of which side of the isle I happen to sit on, the election of Barrack Obama to the Presidency is an amazing thing and should be celebrated. IMHO!
Not this guy. I'll hate him just as I hate the other 99.9% of politicans. Everyone is equal in my eyes.
