This is a poll which is unfair or unclear to both parties. Mr. Perry had the most unearthly like voice (Perry tools) (at one time, circca, 1976-80) than anyone on any planet known to man. Sinatra was loved by millions and is an icon in a different way. Perry sang (and this is my argument for the singer who i believe to be unmatched) the most demanding dam songbook singing for Journey. No wonder big Neil has already went through 4 singers to pay for his child support payments. I'm 49 years old, and to this day, i am so in awe of Steve Perry legacy (in every level or aspect) that i believe it is so unfair to compare greatness to greatness. If i was Steve Perry, i would feel that i gave everything i had (his gift) to Journey for 7-9 years of service in a brutal way: No. 1. Starting in 1979, Journey toured for the record infinity for 10 months, took 2 weeks off, wrote and recored their follow up album, then guess what, they toured for another 10 months, took 2 weeks off, and wrote and recorded their next record. This schedule would repeat itself through Perry's stint with Journey (rest for ROR). For any singer to endure this rotation, it would have been damaging as hell. The 80's were a totally different era, no internet, no YouTube, etc. You will never see that SCHEDULE which Perry survived, ever happen today to any1 for so many reasons. Even if it ever did happen to a singer, (let's say Adam Lambert who is what 25) the songbook alone would be enough to want to either keep on going and screw your livelyhood. I would sugges Adam, you get off the merry-go-round as Perry did. I'm not a muscian, im a sports writer who has followed music and Steve Perry througout his career. But i can honestly speek for the man who has been labled the VOICE, has no reason to feel like he owes any1 anything at all. He is truly something as close to gold, as anyone we will ever witness. I do hope we hear something from him soon before he changes his mind, but as far as a poll, it's just not fair to both of them. I want to say one last thing, i believe SP was the king or benchmark of falsetto, his control along with a overall emotion while singing songs is unmatched.
