Grab a copy of 'Sicko'.....

My guess is you'll see a Doctor from the UK, who practices under a universal healthcare system. Owns a nice home, and has a couple of luxury cars.....wants for NOTHING. Biggest misconception is that they can't continue their elitist lifestyle....

Yeah, because they won't be able to dictate what they charge for services.....what a fucking crock. Bunch of fucking crybabies, just like teachers. Only difference is that teachers don't go into the profession looking to get rich. That is a trait they develop once they are entrenched in the field. The kids come first until they are tenured. Doctors, on the other hand, expect to get rich.....

So you don't feel doctors deserve to make a good living?

Just so you understand, S2M, doctors may "dictate" what they charge for services, however, payor sources dicate what they will pay-and that amount is often less than the actual cost to perform the procedure. In fact, Medicaid in Idaho used to only pay 66% of the bill and they just cut that by another 25%, providers are not allowed to bill the difference to the patient-you do the math.

Honestly, I don't feel the way I posted....I was trying, successfully mind you, to elicit this kind of response....health care needs REFORM. Thank you....

And I'm terribly sorry, but not everyone without medical insurance is in that boat because they can't "afford" it, or because of the "economy". Bullshit. I've been a nurse a looong time now, and it's pretty amazing to me how many of these people who claim they can't afford health insurance can damn sure afford expensive cars and coming waltzing in here with their Medicaid cards with Coach, Luis Vuitton, and Gucci bags slung over their shoulders  .

Do my husband and I enjoy spending hundreds of dollars every month on our health insurance? Well of course not, I mean gee, if we could have a free handout then maybe we could buy expensive cars and purses too. But no, we choose to WORK and live within our means, gee what a concept.

I know this may offend some and guess what? I don't care  Truth hurts sometimes, oh well.

AGREE 100%!!!!

I have NOTHING against patients that have medicaid, but I have HUGE problem with people that abuse it....here's an example....a few weeks ago I had a patient walk up to the labor and delivery desk at 5:45 and this is what she said..."I am 18 weeks pregnant and two days ago I had some spotting after I had sex, I know it can be normal but I know you can tell the sex of the baby at 18 weeks so since I had some bleeding medicaid will pay for an ultrasound and I would like to know the sex of the baby too. I would have gone to my doctor's office but they are closed now and my husband just got off work and he wants to know the sex of the baby too. Besides, I always have to wait when I go to the office and I'd rather just be seen right away-I hate waiting." So, I listen to her baby's heartbeat, make sure she is not having any active bleeding and determine this is not an emergency, I then called her doctor and he did not order an ultrasound-instead wanted to see her in the office the next day. She threw a FIT because she didn't want to have to "wait" the next day ( ) She then demanded that we call in a prescription for sleeping pills for her because she was "so excited' to find out if it was a boy or girl that she didn't think she could sleep-and then said "they will be free because Medicaid pays for it." WTF? That is not FREE!!!

Yeah, I wish I could vote again, dammit! 4 more years of the worst 8 years in US history. My bad, sorry.

If you recall, McCain distanced himself as far from Bush as possible during the campaign. I didn't see Bush running again. I'm not saying business wouldn't be run as usual, but Obama actually made promises to cut pork-barrel spending as part of his campaign platform.
Can we chalk this up as Lie #1?

You should take your hand out of all those meatditches you love so much and go spew, err, lobby on behalf of the overpaid phycisians association.

Doctor's ALL make fine livings. Don't try to tell us they are struggling.

What horseshit.

With Nat'l H/C, there would be even more patients, more nurses and Docs needed, but damned, they would have to put in 30 hours a week until we found more doctors to fill the void...Boo Hoo, cancel a golf game or two.

No, tightening the belt is the absolute worst thing we can do. If anything, the stimulus isn't big enough. 13 Trillion dollar economy and we are spending about what, 8% to jump start it? Not enough. China spent 20% of it's GDP and they recovered and took off nicely. Singapore, same thing.

Oh and I DO recall everything McCain said. He changed his mind every time his plane landed some place different. He was clueless and you know it. "The fundamentals of the economy are strong?" Are you kidding me?

I didn't say they are struggling, I just asked why S2M doesn't feel that doctors deserve to make a good living. I then corrected his misconception that doctors arbitrarily assign a high price to services they offer.

Quiet, you'll ruin Deanos wet dream.

Well, you're here, time for me to go.

I made my case, so now that all the Cons are rolling in here with a fresh copy of the Limbaugh letter, I am thankfully done.

Melissa- I had no bad intent to you whatsoever, but perhaps it's time that doctors and other professionals give back to the system a little bit. Maybe they can drive a Lexus for a few years rather than new Mercedes every 3 months. Doctors aren't going to quit.

I almost forgot.

Your comment about Obama made a major mistake in pissing off Rush Limbaugh and how that wasn't a smart move had me laughing so hard I shit my pants.

Listen to your idol's comments today. Classless. Bend over and grab the ankles because Obama's dad is black and we can't criticize him." WTF?

I'll take Obamas favourables over Rush's any day.

This just speaks volumes.....total lack of respect for...well anyone really.

I certainly hope you didn't have this degree of "respect" for the doctors and nurses that cared for you in the hospital a few months ago. I mean I'm sure they were overpaid too....right?

No they aren't necessarily "struggling", but there are TONS of patients of many private practices who never pay their balances on their patient responsiblity portions, and also don't pay their co-pays saying "Just bill me" and it never gets paid. And that damn sure does add up and hurt their practices. Pretty funny you can't say "Just bill me" at the grocery store, yet it's ok for medical care?

Not all doctors live like fricken kings and queens people

And just for the record, I am also not against people with Medicaid, I am against the ones who ABUSE the hell out of it, and there are PLENTY.

4 months = (roughly) 16 weeks... yet she was 18 weeks pregnant? What is she, a Pez dispenser? She shoots one out and there's another one in there behind it? And nevermind that you're supposed to lay off the horizontal business (so I'm told) for at least 8 weeks after, I guess. She must have taken her kid home and got right to work. Idiot.

Angel wrote:I have NOTHING against patients that have medicaid, but I have HUGE problem with people that abuse it....here's an example....a few weeks ago I had a patient walk up to the labor and delivery desk at 5:45 and this is what she said..."I am 18 weeks pregnant and two days ago I had some spotting after I had sex, I know it can be normal but I know you can tell the sex of the baby at 18 weeks so since I had some bleeding medicaid will pay for an ultrasound and I would like to know the sex of the baby too.

My problem with this story is that people like that are breeding.

Oh yes and I forgot to mention....the same girl had just had a baby.....four months prior to this incident.

Idiot.

OOPS, I worded that wrong....her first baby was four months old when she got pregnant.

I'd like to see no Credit Card interest.... we might actually be able to pay it off if we weren't killing ourselves to pay interest. Give us 6 months no interest...

I'm not making this shit up. Only 8% of this $800B package will end up back into the economy this year. Yeah...you voted for "change" alright.

some dumbass isnt thinking right here. When I was in the US Navy , during bootcamp we got showed these pictures of people with advanced STDs' -bloated, caked with pusss, faces and genitals total history. The Chief Petty officer then said- if you boys dont know what your gettin into, and you cant sack it three times, just go jack off in the shower instead" That shit scared the life out of my innocent mind for years on end. Them pictures cost about 35 dollars to produce and an other 35 dollars to publish. They just need to show kids them pictures and they could save the other 334,999,925 dollars.
