Sadly, yes. I get to hear stories that don't make the news media all the time and I am convinced, yes.

Ditto. Yes, there are that many freaks around unfortunately. And the amount of kids I've seen hurt at the hands of their own parents, the people who kids just love no matter what because of their innocence, is awful.

Pisses me off to the extreme, and reminds me why I'm so much happier when I stay away from watching or reading the news, except for just skimming the headlines to see what is really going on in the world.

Do we really have that many freaks around, or is it just the "if it bleeds, it leads" mentality of our press that makes it seem like our world is going to hell in a handbasket. No one can deny that the bulk of news these days is BAD news... crazies, criminals, deviants, abductions, natural disasters, etc. Even in just the past few years, much of mainstream news has taken on a much more tabloid style, catering to the lowest common denominator mentality. Problem is, that lowest common denominator is increasing as people are getting addicted by all this "junk food for the brain". Really sad...
I'd love to find some decent objective news sources that concentrate on important things going on in the world, instead of this constant stream of emotion-manipulating garbage. Any sites you recommend?

Mate, I reckon your Dokken posts are a 1,000 times worse! but that's my opinion, just a thought.

I knew the media would go crazy...I was alot happier and saner avoiding it. We had a family of 9 killed here in LA at xmas time...when I usually get depressed any way and I didn't avoid coverage.. wish I had. Feel fine now. Before that xmas thing, a couple of months ago, with the economy in the toilet I knew there would be tons of familys getting killed in murder suicides and it's already happening.

I don't interact with them and don't find them entertaining.
