Thats funny, I don't have the least bit of trouble reading and comprehending any of his posts. I don't agree with every thing he says, of course, but how he says it is perfectly clear. He is right that some do not stop long enough to really read what someone is saying sometimes or they see it with their own perception to what they think the person means instead of what that person actually says. I don't think the oness is on Gideon to " tone down" his mentality or vocabulary ..I think the responder should step it up if they want to debate him and take time to really read what he says before responding. If they are not up to the task then they always have the option to sit it out and not enter the debate. Of course it is an informal music chat board but when a topic that is debatable comes up then thats what he is doing..debating his viewpoints.. and he would like to keep it to the issue and not have words put in his mouth or for someone to go off in a tangent away from it. He shows more maturity on here then people twice his age or more. If someone gets upset because he has won on points then that is on them as well.

Blueskies if you have a problem with me say so, Gideon and I worked it out. I would prefer not to be talked about. As far as what was interpretted by me you are not me. Saying that, I have no beef with you, but I sure don't understand the way you keep doing this to me, seems like a weird vindetta. What gives? :?: :?: :? :?
Now see..you just did the exact same thing with me as you did with Gideon. I did not mention you in my post at all but was merely agreeing with a point he has made more then once on this board and not just today in this thread. ....although he did make the point here with you doing it as well and he was correct..your reading TONS of things into my post now that are not there at all in anything I said. You are way over defensive in your response and need to stop and think before you post next time and not be so paronoid that when someone disagrees with you they must have a vendetta and are out to get you. Good grief.

What game?? Geesh, I wasn't even talking to you nor did I mention you at all but was in agreement with his point at large...if you can't comprehend that then thats unfortunite but you need to know that your freaking out when you shouldn't be.

*edit...I keep doing this to you?? I recall disagreeing with you maybe twice in total since you've been here but I do recall you jumping in with others to attack me when I wasn't talking to you at all and you making false allegations of me without any basis of fact other then your own assumptions.. You are paranoid and need to get a grip. If I disagree with something said on this board it does not mean I am "out to get" anyone so I would appreciate it if you would not jump to your own conclusions to my actions and stick with what is said and not accuse me of intent that is only in your mind and not mine, thank you.

The video of the song depresses me. It comes across as a swansong for the group, their last days on top of the mountain.

He's complaining about being misquoted and misinterpreted. I'm just trying to help the guy along. Persuasive writing is about knowing your audience and your venue. I had a 780 verbal SAT score and used to try and show it off the same way when I was younger. For the lion's share of writing, less is more, believe me. Oh, and since we're on the subject of words, it's onus .

Gideon's got some very good viewpoints and I agree with a lot of them. I read and understand him just fine, but I can easily understand why a lot of folks here don't bother.

This place is hysterical! I am glad the topic got discussed somewhat though! I just had to add my two cents when I listened to ROR today. I have been on a Perry kick for the last month.

I wish for the love of God he would rear his friggin head and come out with something already! One more for the road, Stevie!!!

Thanks for reiterating what I just said back to me of what he was complaining about...and pointing out a typo I failed to correct. What you are really trying to say is you think G is too full of himself and is trying to show off...and that you've learnt better and stopped.... good way to prove it too by talking down and also telling your SAT score. and thanks for furthering the point of my discussion by saying that a lot of others don't read his posts...something you don't know as fact but are only assuming.  8)

There is ZERO comparison between the notes in "When You Love A Woman" and the glass-splitting notes at the end of "Why Can't This Night Go On Forever". I suspect Arnel probably does have the power in his voice to take it on. It's certainly not a coincidence that Schon hasn't dared have that song performed since Perry left the band. He knows full well that his collection of "replacements" had zero shot of tackling that song. Although Perry is superb on WCTNGOF, I don't think it's close to his best performance ever. For me, it will ALWAYS be "Mother Father". There isn't a song in the Journey catalog that illustrates Perry's untouchable brilliance more than that track.

Long story short: everything we've heard him do since the '80s makes it clear that he was losing it. Will he always have a great voice in terms of tone? Sure. But he can't tackle this shit anymore. He clearly doesn't possess the other factors.

Right...and I can't run 5 miles a night like I used to do when I was 25! What's your point? For the millionth time to you Perry detractors....It doesn't matter what Perry can do in 2009, and hasn't mattered in many, many years! Journey is a washed up, 80's band, who has been living off of Perry's immense talent since he left the band. Perry doesn't need to be relevant in 2009. He remains the reason that "Journey" sells any tickets and earn a living off of songs that were made famous by his voice!

Yes, he has a sh*tload of delay and other effects on there but he just sounds so damn GOOD.

Whatever, Perry is awesome on this song, it's ONE of my favs.

The ending, with the voice and the GUITAR, just sends me....Gawd, it's amazing.

Yes, he has a sh*tload of delay and other effects on there but he just sounds so damn GOOD.

Whatever, Perry is awesome on this song, it's ONE of my favs.

The ending, with the voice and the GUITAR, just sends me....Gawd, it's amazing.

The ending is the weakest part for me, because it sounds like it should continue but sort of just stops.

I feel like Neal should have pulled out all the stops for the outro and he just didn't. It's a good song, but not my favorite Journey power ballad. Incredible vocals though, to be sure. And I really love the Neal solo after the first chorus.

Debate is about speaking clearly to people. If you keep getting misquoted or misinterpreted, that burden is probably mostly on you, my man.

I'm only assuming what Gideon pointed out. Gideon's a good guy, a smart guy, and a VERY welcome addition to the board as far as I'm concerned. I was just trying to explain to him why his posts were going "in one ear and out the other" with some posters here.
Hey, I'm not going to further battle for him..I don't even know him and he can certainly speak for himself. He just made a point that resignated with me and I spoke to that. As far as his views on Journey there isn't a lot I agree with him on. but, yes he's smart and a welcome addition as well as you are. 8)

I'm not talking about the end of the ending  Yeah, I agree, that end does sound like it just stops & needs something.

I'm talking about toward the very end when Schon & Perry are enteracting together.
