I'll wait. But sooner or later, common sense needs to prevail around here. I couldn't care less if he disagreed with me, but the double standards are so asinine.

Geez guys, why are you making their fight your own? There are several ways of looking at it, and there are different views on the whole thing. But guess what? The only people who truely know what went down are the folks involved. Madsplash I love SP. But he admits to making mistakes. Neal has too. It is a personal thing between the guys, and not a real reason to get Andrew who has his own problems, to play referee to. You don't have to see eye to eye. :)

I have to know, because it's bugging the shit out of me.

Not forgetting that SP had mixed emotions a few times. He knew that HE was driving the bus and could go where he wanted but had shit happening in his life that he was dealing with.

I'm just saying that he never knocks the other guys and they have taken many shots at him. I keep asking anyone to post ANYTHING negative that SP has EVER said about anyone in Journey, and no one ever posts ANYTHING. Their problems are well documented, but how each side has handled it is also documented. SP with positivity and fond memories and the other 3 with negativity and childish bitterness. That's pure fact.

Show me ANYTHING negative that SP has ever said about ANY of those guys.

I hope they all sign "The Voice" below their own names on the checks that they deposit into their bank accounts. They should fall to the ground and thank their lucky stars that SP came into their lives.

Unbefuckingleviable.

Anything SP said? So fucking what? He actually directly fucked this band out of egomania. Jon? Neal? Not so much. Who the fuck cares what any of them said?

Actions speak louder than words.

Wrong. He actually fucked this band into ever mattering. A lot of fans care what they've said. You're clueless.

I'm losing my patience with your double standards. You'll bitch to SJ about namecalling and then troll and whine and cry and pout whenever someone doesn't agree with you.

Welcome to the fucking real world. You made this thread trying to argue a case, deal with the fucking rebuttals.

Throw out one more pejorative, and I'll go to Andrew. MR stands for Melodic Rock, not Madsplash's Rules.

Listen Gideon, sweety. Go to Andrew? About what? Because you don't agree with what I'm saying? Cry, cry, cry  And I can DEAL with anything your lightweight ass throws at me, pal. Argue your point, like I am doing, and deal with what is said back to you. But don't go crying to anyone about what is being said. Pejorative

You are hilarious. "I'll go to Andrew"     . For WHAT? Geez. I'll bet you always went running home to mommy from any playground arguments you had, didn't you?

Grow up, man. I'm opinionated and so are you and that's cool, but don't threaten me with "I'll tell on you". Wah.

Well, if the much more hotly than usual rumored Perry album is coming we will have other stuff to talk about with Journey active and Platinum and Perry being heard from singing wise...honestly I am hearing both that it's a rumor and absolute fact that the new album is nearly in the can and about to drop.
Cyndy and Lora normally debunk rumors, but have been pretty mum on these (in the "new record coming soon side)so take from that what we will other than to confirm about a year ago Perry personally played them new music.

Your argument is akin to saying because a thief hasn't said anything "negative" about his victims that that makes the decade of their (Journey) careers he wasted justified. You remain a deluded dumbfuck that puts capital into his voice and thinks that because he "made the band millions" that it was ok for him to decide that because he no longer wanted to go on, that no one could.

Exactly.

Now, it's true, SMFP has never publicly uttered an unkind word about Journey since his departure, but I'm not buying this "high road" nonsense. I can understand him not feeling "part of the band" IN THE BEGINNING because he felt he was coming into the situation with virtually no credentials vs. Neal &
Greg and the fact that they were pretty clear that they really didn't want a frontman - let a lone a "crooner". I can understand there being some insecurity there. I think Perry has tried on numerous occassions to clarify that statement.

As time progressed, however, he was firmly in charge of the direction the band was taking on - and that worked out pretty well for a while. Where the thing seems to have come off the rails is when Perry decided for his own personal reasons (which he's entitled to) that he wanted to shut it all down. There's nothing wrong with him quitting the band, if that's what he felt he needed to do. Him quitting is his business, but bringing the band to a grinding halt while he does his little Hamlet act (...to be, or not to be..) is taking food off other peoples table, and that is unforgivable. Neal & Jon, not to mention Ross have every right to be bitter. The only difference between SMFP and the rest of those guys is they're willing, in a very limited way, to express there displeasure. SMFP has a cadre of defenders to take up his cause for him.

An artist that had all but given up was coaxed into giving it one more try and he took a somewhat struggling band and provided the missing ingredient. The man's exit was simply void of class, unlike that of Gregg Rolie.

Nah, I've only recently (today) reached SJ's level of disgust with Steve Perry. Prior to the whitewashing by specific parties, I was fine. Critical, but there were always legitimate criticisms to be made for him.

But, you know, I'd bet that the feelings post-TBF were worse than the ones post-RoR.

No, I dug Bad English. Just another example of Neal and Jon riding the coat tails of a great singer/frontman, John Waite. It's cool for them to do that. They've gotten to be quite the professionals at it. They're talented SIDEMEN who need direction. It's cool.

I know. He could have ditched them long before he did and lit up the charts with albums like Against The Wall and For The Love Of Strange Medicine.

No, he could have recorded chart busters with Jan Hammer and Hardline.
Funny how you conveniently excluded the platinum Bad English debut which had 3 Top 40 hits including a #5 and a #1. I know that doesn't stack up well against Against The Wall or FTLOSM, though.

No, I dug Bad English. Just another example of Neal and Jon riding the coat tails of a great singer/frontman, John Waite. It's cool for them to do that. They've gotten to be quite the professionals at it. They're talented SIDEMEN who need direction. It's cool.

Pretty much says it all right there. You're saying that he had a right to decide to end Journey...a band that pre-dated him? I think the Journey gig was a mutually beneficial endeavor. An artist that had all but given up was coaxed into giving it one more try and he took a somewhat struggling band and provided the missing ingredient. 'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

I know, but who holds a grudge for 10, 15, 20 years? And what do people expect out of fallen-out band members?

 (please don't revoke my Loon card)

You go, Jubilee. Absolutely great post. 8) You're still a loon, don't worry. I would recognize one a mile away.

Oh you're right, SJ is a MEGA loon. The guy LOVES I mean ADORES him from like, The Party's Over through Strung Out.
Odd part is unlike how I bow down at the Journey altar that is Raised On Radio produced by Steve Perry (if ever HeardOnTheStreet's oft-used bust that Schon/Cain was Perry's sideman was true it was here and I wouldn't give it back for anything) and Like a lot of FTLOSM and some of Journey's Trial By Fire all of which he hates
"I love almost everybody."---Rocky Balboa 1990
"Let's reform this thing.Let's go out and get some guys who want to work and go do it"--Neal Schon February, 2001
"I looked at Neal, and I just saw a guy who really wants his band back"-JCain 2/01

Disagree here. Bad English was good. Jon Waite had all of what one hit without his "sidemen" as you call them. But it was the music in the background and writing that made them good. Don't underestimate the talents of all members of the band over a mancrush over Perry. I love Perry and his music very much. But I can fairly say that all the members of Journey were talented in their own right, that was what made the band so great. 5 strong musicians. :D
